A roar starts to grow in the distance. Visaera Ellente, the green pixie, looks up from the bartending book she's studying. A cloud of dust is
climbing up from the horizon, shimmering in the spring warmth. She flits up to a branch of the massive oak tree to get a better look as the object
draws closer.
Soon she can see it, a black carriage of some sort, looking like a cruel beetle tearing along the meadow toward the oak tree. The roar is growing
louder and more deafening, and Visaera holds her tiny hands over her ears. Whoever is in that horrible thing is going to get a stern talking
to...from Pesky, of course, since I can't speak.
As the carriage crests the hill, speeding along Old Shed Road, it veers off right by the tree. Visaera's heartbeat quickens and she hides behind a
branch as the carriage spins around, ripping up grasses and wildflowers. Now stationary, it roars a few times, VROOM! VROOM! VROOOOOOOMMMM!
before falling silent except for some faint clicking noises coming from its front.
Visaera peeks out from behind her branch. She can make out strange writing on the side, the characters "Z28", and "CAMARO", whatever that means.
There is a click, and the side of the beetle-carriage pushes outward. A wool-clad figure in well-worn boots climbs out and looks around from
underneath its hood.
She flits out of the tree toward the figure, and sits on the roof of the beetle-carriage. The roof seems to be made of glass and she can see inside.
Shepherd turns to the tiny green woman. "Hiya, Visaera. Sorry about the flowers. Dang things are hard to control on dirt."
Her lips purse sternly and she waggles a prim finger at PrairieShepherd. He just smiles at her and shakes his head slightly. "I missed you too, my
Lady," he bows slightly.
She tries to hold the look, but her heart overflows at seeing her friend again, and his quirky smile melts her disapproval. She flits over to his
shoulder, and leans into his cheek, suddenly content.
