Marxists are starting to say that sushi at a cafeteria is cultural appropriation. When I was in school it was called cultural diffusion. It was a sharing of different cultures for the enrichment of both or as many as necessary. When did that change? Why are we trying to divide or segregate people instead of having open dialogue and the sharing of cultures? I'm White and Filipino does that mean I can only eat burgers and adobo? If i like siracha on my burger does that mean I am Oppressing Thai's? This is insanity. How much more history or culture will be lost or excluded in this culture war?

I don't know if sushi at a cafeteria is cultural appropriation. Whatever it is, it's a bad idea.

Like strip club tacos or Swedish meatballs from the gas station.

Thats an extremely bold claim if true. I need further proof before we take action.

Nope, it is part of the ever changing word play designed to keep us at each others throats.

No one can take a culture-in America we are supposed to be a melting pot. The left does not like it when we all get along.

Back in roman times it was. But america is a melting pot of all cultures. Telling americans not to appropriate other cultures is like telling them not to be american. One of the greatest things about the US is the fact we take whats best from other cultures and make it our own.

Next time someone gets mad at you for appropriating their culture point out what they are wearing and who made the cloth. Ask them why they appropriated that cell phone that wasn't made by their culture. Point out the parts in their car that were invented by other cultures. Or the lotion they use or the hair products or any number of a 100 things they enjoy every day that were not made buy whatever culture they claim to be a part of.

IMO it's a "thing", to an extent. When cultural aspects, history and artifacts cross into kitsch and trends, yes it can be conveyed as such. The extent is shown in videos of people going off on someone such as the cab driver with his Hawaiian doll and being attacked by the passenger for it.

As would be the woman attacking the man for dreadlocks when they have spanned cultures and in his rebuttal video he didn't appear to be participating in appropriation. Appropriation would be; "weeaboos". "Blackface", is pretty shameful especially when it is used racially, which seems to be the use of it in most cases.

How can it be a thing when everyone is and has always done it???

Are we not supposed to use Zero because that was invented by some other culture thousands of years ago???

Is nobody else allowed to have electricity, or cars, or language because other people of different cultures came up with it???

Of course not. That would be stupid. We should be appropriating as many cultures as possible. They all have something to enjoy somewhere so why not check it out?? It just makes sense.

I see it as less of a conspiracy and more of just a way for weak people to feel like they have some kind of power.

I say grab your Indian buddy, hop in your Ford Truck, grab some Chinese food and kick back with a couple of hottie chicks, maybe a Latina and an Italian or whatever and listen to some Rap Music.

Appropriate the hell out some culture man. Why not?

I've managed to live all 38 years of my life in a city (NYC) where every cuisine, for better or worse, is available 24/7.

I've also managed to enjoy all forms of that cuisine without stopping for even 1 second to think what a millionaire actress would think about what I'm eating and my attitude towards it.

Eat what the hell you like. Don't eat what you don't.

If school cafeteria sushi is crap, don't buy it. If it's good, enjoy. It's food.

In 5 years I'll still be enjoying culinary adventures in my multicultural city and I doubt anyone will remember who that actress is.

Points for figuring out ways to keep yourself in the news even though your show sucks though.
