We need to understand that the way things are going right now, the NYT and the WP are dominating the news media like they are the only ones to be trusted with nothing but leaks of unnamed sources.
That is call gossip tabloid not worthy news media.

No, Deep Throat is nothing like we have right now, no even and inch, to even compare the circus we have with unnamed sources leaks coming from tabloids is to do a disservice to him.

Conservative writer Erick Erickson said he knows one of the sources of leaked information that has been damaging to President Trump.
Erickson said this person is a Trump supporter who is frustrated with the president for not taking prudent advice from his colleagues.
"[This is] not intentional sabotage," Erickson said of recent leaks. "People inside the White House are trying to get Trump's attention."

WaPo from the early 1970's is nothing like WaPo in 2017.
..
WaPo is now a comic.
Last week they claimed that the deputy AG threatened to resign - he issued a statement to debunk them.
Mr. Rosenstein left the impression that he couldn’t work in an environment where facts weren’t accurately reported, the person said. The deputy attorney general objected to statements by White House aides citing Mr. Rosenstein’s critical assessment of Mr.Comey’s job performance to justify the firing.
They also said Comey was refused more resource for the Russia investigation - another debunked load of rubbish.
A congressional source with knowledge of the matter said Comey told lawmakers within the past few days he had asked the Justice Department to make additional resources available - mainly more staffing - for the Russia probe.
Comey informed lawmakers of that request after the Senate Intelligence Committee, conducting its own investigation, had asked the FBI to speed up its Russia inquiry, the source said.
Dianne Feinstein, the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Democrat, told reporters she understood Comey was seeking more resources for the FBI investigation.
