So are there any objective physical markers for transgenderism? I mean a blood test, genetic test, something along those lines, that is to say, hard biological/chemical evidence that the condition is more than just psychological?

There's kids who attempt to commit suicide too. That doesn't mean they are supposed to be dead, it means they need mental help. That's not really a point for your side of the argument.

Do you want to be cured of hetrosexuality? No..and even if hetrosexuality was considered wildly abnormal, you still would want to keep it

I put it down to this. personal preference. no cure is needed.

I would say any/all trans folks should start by seeing a therapist to see if what is going on is in fact just some mental issues happening. If after time they feel their way and it isn't just some sort of overall identity crisis, then carry on.

I am against giving hormones to anyone under 18
I am...open to hear..about using hormone blockers to offset puberty if there is some question. hormone treatments sterilize you, but blockers simply delay puberty without seemingly any major issue. more studies needed here.

I would be in favor of brain scans to determine pathways consistant with trans folks in order to assess if it is possibly just a "phase".

Take a science approach here. its someone else, so who cares...but in the end, understanding the issue is more rewarding than simply blasting it because its weird for you (especially when it doesn't effect you)

Actually I was referring to the point made that some boys try to cut off their genitalia - certainly a mental disorder requiring treatment.

I agree that everyone should have the right to do as they wish as long as they aren't infringing on somebody else's rights.

As for the special treatment, I don't want to comment on something that I'm ignorant to, but I will say this, equal rights should mean exactly that, equal. Not equal and some.

But in this case the lines are pretty blurry, so I don't know.

Well, ATS has a pretty vast echo chamber. It feels good when people high 5 your ideological stances..even when the science isn't in.

You keep changing the goal posts.

It's not about sexism.

It's not about little Billy liking the color pink.

It's not about parents pushing their child to be transgender.

It is about a real condition that originates in the brain and affects self awareness in regards to gender identity.

No drug will resolve it. No therapy will resolve it. Spanking the kid and telling him that he has to quit talking about being a girl won't resolve it. Ignoring the kid won't resolve it. All those things have been tried by parents and doctors. They don't work.
