Somehow got started thinking about old country singers tonight and just kept going. Left a few here. Please add to the list if you are old enough to
remember. And I will add more as I remember
Roger Miller ...I saw him perform once when I worked at the Roundup Inn in Fort Worth. He was absolutely great. And his songs have some levity to
them. So before listening to the country downers thought he would be a good start.
Mo Bandy because I recently found out I am from a Bandy line (nothing self serving here)
Lefty Frizzell. This is the one I remember most
Patsy Cline...greatest female singer until Adelle. Died in 1963 at age 30
Keith Whitley...died in 1989 of alcohol poisoning
Marty Robbins...I add him because my step Uncle( I live with his family a while) who I lived with for a while grew up with Marty and he always came by
when he was in town. This was in Glendale Az. My stepfather worked at a Rosa's Cantina there. Don't know which came first but this was about
1961.
Didn't include Hank cause I thought someone might. I consider him the father of Country though there were many backwoods singers who came before.
You could always feel their songs.
She was probably good in her younger days. The voice has a young black country singer (Blake's team) that I would love to break to through the
white female country singers. Her voice is great but seems to lack range but she is only 16 or so. if she doesn't make it am hoping someone will
pick her up and give her help.
