And we all thought about what a joke the UN was when they keep electing Saudi Arabia to the "human rights" council. Now they are on the UN committee for the "empowerment" of women... LOL

Does the insanity get any better?

The Geneva-based human rights group UN Watch condemned the U.N.'s election of Saudi Arabia, "the world's most misogynistic regime," to a 2018-2022 term on its Commission on the Status of Women, the U.N. agency "exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women."

"Electing Saudi Arabia to protect women's rights is like making an arsonist into the town fire chief," said Hillel Neuer. "It's absurd. "Saudi women," said Neuer, "must have a male guardian who makes all critical decisions on her behalf, controlling a woman’s life from her birth until death, and Saudi Arabia bans women from driving cars."

Countries like Saudi Arabia are why we need women's rights commissions.
Oh the irony.

more proof that the U.N. is a complete waste of time and money.
the U.N.`s history of poor decisions undermines the credibility of everything they say and do.

I saw the direction of the comments. I'm gonna swim against the stream.

This'll teach the feminists to run their mouths too often, too long and through the gutter.

Of course, we'll have to see who SA actually sends to the UN, won't we?

Ahhhhahahahahaha!!

Honestly the absurdity of this world, just keeps getting richer...as hard as running a homestead is, particularly while working full time...its #$%#stain things like this that makes me thankful for the opportunity a homestead affords in raising our daughter as far removed from the mainstream manure hill as we can...

This seem absurd but I will play devil's advocate here. Wouldn't women from there be better candidates for understading the inequality and to bring awareness to it?

Not if they don't even have the means to understand equality in the first place.

Not sure I understand your point? Is your point the same as black people not understanding equality back in the slavery time?

What are they going to do?

Get up and criticize sharia law at the UN assemblies but go home and pretend it's all cool to their husbands and their imams?

No.

If they speak out against sharia law anywhere anytime they face capital punishment in their communities.

It's almost as if some paid shill within the UN is trying to utterly discredit it in the eyes of the world...

That's probably it. That's why I am reserving my judgment. People can't be this dumb.

When you consider that no country with a veto actually saw fit to use it...The situation becomes even more risible.

Sure, it's easy to speak up about it when you're nestled safely behind the border of the USA.

Where's the feminist movement in Saudi Arabia? Where are the gay rights coalitions?
