I would wager it's not. Men generally want something pleasing to look at, and what better way to keep an attentive audience while also having one's particular political point of view accepted.

It's a form of marketing, and not much more than that.

This is happening because they screwed up, not because they're bugging out though. They've just been exposed for their evils and more importantly are costing the advertisers their precious money so they have to go.

They'll be replaced by other new worthless evil liars though. Don't worry. There are plenty of those people out there waiting for their turn at bat.
