Watching the updates now...

A blast, a fire and sounds of gunshots outside the Houses of Parliament .
Several injured.

..also some sketchy reports of a car running down a number of people on Westminster Bridge.

The 'assailant' was shot by armed police, but not killed, reportedly.

Maybe it's just a lack of knowledge on my part, but I was under the impression that no one was allowed to have guns in the UK?

Vehicle attack and shots fired (probably by the police), sounds like the events in France and Germany, only stopped quick sharpish.

It does sound like it has been shut down, but I am hearing a police office was shot too...

...Sky are reporting 'a number of bodies' on Westminster Bridge, though they are careful to say they are unconfirmed sources.

Criminals can still get their hands on guns. In the U.K. someone can own shotguns, .22's and rifles

Criminals can get guns. It's only difficult for lawful people.

Hand guns and fully automatics are banned.

Shotguns, rifles of .22 calibre and semi-autos also of .22 are allowed under firearms licensing.

Criminals can procure weapons fare more easily than a regular law abiding citizen. The gun control laws , especially in North America, only make it harder for regular people to buy guns...

Ignorance is bliss. There are over a milion firearms in the UK. But let's keep to topic.

Is this a loner intent on harm, or something beig over-blown?

Not clear yet... seems there was only one attacker - with a knife.

Amazing how quickly this turned in to a "gun thread"...

Seeing pictures of a couple of people down on Westminster Bridge - not sure if related... eye witness says a 4*4 ran into some people.

The driver of the vehicle might be the same person as the attacker.

Will be interesting to see if this turns out as either an attack carried out by ISIS etc or just a random nut case.

I have always found it odd that we (the UK) haven't had any sort of attack from ISIS yet other countries in Europe have suffered. I have one reason to why this is ... June last year we voted for Brexit. The UK governments agenda was to STAY in the EU, so if we were to have any attacks on U.K. soil prior to the Brexit that would of swayed the opinion of the voters to wanting to LEAVE the EU especially if the terrorists turned out to migrants from the war zones in the middle east.

The conspiracy side of me is telling me that the true powers in charge of running the world said .. 'right we can't have attacks in the U.K. before the Brexit vote as people will want to vote to leave the EU'

That's just me though

Never mind...this is not a thread about guns and society. Let's get the news covered as it breaks.
