One of the best threads I've seen in a long a time. Truth backed up by facts. America's policies have cause our own problems in this world. We force our own ideologies on countries, and have military bases all over the world to help police and protect our own selfish interests! We have a military machine that keeps milking trillions of dollars from hard working Americans, yet all Americans don't even have a human and basic right to affordable healthcare or can expect to get a fair livable wage. We tout we're the leader of the free world, but many of our allies do more for their citizens than the U.S..

This is the sad truth of American foreign policy. Hell, our own history shows how we just came in and took lives and land from native Americans! Our foreign policies are like living on the American east coast and sticking our nose into a neighborhood conflict on the west coast. We don't let countries and their neighbors solve their own internal and regional problems.

Many here on ATS are so engrained in their political party, they fell to see how both parties have caused the problems America has today. Our government has brainwashed us into believing we need to support a huge military budget, not to just protect our homeland (Which is the main reason for having a military), but to help influence and keep other countries in check around the world.

They've got us so brainwashed, we start fighting among ourselves for corporate, elitist and government interests instead of our own interests. The power is with the people, we are the majority, yet we allow a power hungry few to decide how they spend our tax dollars and control our ultimate fate.

This should be a wake-up call thread for everyone here.

They, rep or dem, will not stop the wars in the middle east. I don't know exactly why, they say American interests. How many more refugees are other nations willing to take in, I think that door is closing. Then what? The only way I see out of these wars, are we all protest together. Thank you for this important thread.

How to unite the people then, everyone is so dug in and defending their side, what will it take for people to see common ground ?

Anger. My kids were early teens when we went to wars and now 30ish. When they get sick of seeing nothing but death and sacrifice of their peers. Like Viet Nam war.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply and for the kind words.

I figured that my decision to deal out some discipline would go over well, but I had no idea it would go over this well! Maybe I should give out whippings more often?

In the OP I lamented the fact that most people would be back to the petty debates almost immediately, and you know what? Some of them went straight to it without a pause.

Taking responsibility has become a huge challenge for almost everyone. We have become far too accustomed to the habit of placing blame everywhere except the one place where change could be the most effective - with ourselves.

We need to bring back this motto and mentality, and keep it:

It's been a rough few years muzzleflash - you know? There are a lot of us that disagree with each other often enough - it will be that way always, and I don't even want that to change. We should disagree with each other

What's been missing is the ability to recognize each other. To see that we are in this together and basically want the same things - even if it's not exactly the same things, or we all think we have a better way of achieving those same things

What you just said is the wake up call we've all been needing. Time to start being honest. That means with ourselves - absolutely

Your OP really got to me

We don't need to protest necessarily.
What we need is to organize and lobby our congresspeople, our executives, and to ignore the MSM gibberish to such a degree that when you go into Subway or Starbucks or some diner you frequent and there's a TV on the news - you ask them to change the channel to something neutral or you will no longer patron their establishment any longer. They'll change the channel quick. We gotta hit the MSM ratings and take them down.

I had nothing to lose.

All I want is for everyone to be honest with ourselves and with each other.
You have no idea how badly dishonesty from those I loved and trusted has hurt me in my life.

And some of them are so compulsive and dedicated to their lies that I don't know if they could ever stop for even a minute. That infuriates me to a degree I cannot describe, and it also saddens me into the darkest depths. I don't even want to think about it today.

I was in that place last week - I'll be there again

It's good to take a time out now and then

Grog is to understand totally.

LOL "Grok" is the word you're thinking of

wiki

Grok /ˈɡrɒk/ is a word coined by Robert A. Heinlein for his 1961 science-fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land.

well the goals are already pointed out in the OP. We can do something about it, but we rather discuss it. There is so much to do than talk. But we rather have a poke of fun at it and gossip til it dies and resurrects.

point is, what can you or anyone else do? you already conform to their ideas. take music for instance.. did you make the choice to listen to what you listen to Right now or did someone else influence you to listen to it?

what about your TV shows, movies? did you decide one day to watch it or did someone say it was good to watch? the influence, was inspired by them, which makes you a hypocrite if you deny the influence. you're interrogation was brought upon your self, to self interrogate into liking what you like.

none of your lifestyle choices were made from you, you decided to be influenced by them. hence they won you already, and ever since you were born.

First of all it was George Soros and his radical front groups who stirred the pot of the Arab Spring. People like Medea Benjamin of Code Pink and Bill Ayers were in Egypt and even Richard Trumpka bragged about his involvement in it... and it was on Obamas watch.... it wasn't we the people....we just watch in horror.
The CFR, TRC, Bilderbergs, Rothschilds, Club of Rome, And International Bankers are the responsible parties.
