I doubt anyone paying attention will be surprised but for some reason, some people still do not believe that the leftest will go to any lengths to stack elections.

www.washingtontimes.com...

Stung by recent election defeats, Democrats are leading the charge to lower the voting age to 17, with a little help from liberal billionaire George Soros.

In California, Democratic legislators introduced this week a landmark bill, ACA 10, that would give the Golden State the nation’s youngest statewide voting age by lowering the threshold from 18 to 17 in the name of reversing the slide in voter turnout.

“Young people are our future,” said Democratic Assembly member Evan Low, the measure’s sponsor. “Lowering the voting age will help give them a voice in the democratic process and instill a lifelong habit of voting.”

The proposal comes as the most ambitious of a host of efforts to chip away at the 18-year-old voting age as Democrats seek to bring into the fold younger voters, who traditionally support more liberal causes and candidates than do their elders.

Mr. Soros is on board: His Open Society Foundations is among the left-wing philanthropies backing FairVote, which has pushed to allow 17-year-olds who will turn 18 before the general election to vote in presidential primaries and caucuses, a policy now on the books in 21 states and the District of Columbia.

If anything the voting age should be raised. Young people are idiots with no real world experience. I'm horrified by my teenage stupidity.

Exactly. They want more people who feel rather than think to vote before they begin thinking for themselves.

Ditto that. Lets go with the standard auto insurance uses. 25 is a good age. Most young folk will have had at least 5 years of experience in the real world of adults by then, if they have not been sheltered in a post secondary daycare that passes for colleges these days that is. The mind evolves rather significantly in such a time span in response to life experience.

You know what?

I think 18 is too young anyways.

If anything, the voting age should be raised to 21 in the US and in California especially.

Same CA which raised the age to buy a pack of smokes to 21.

I say if CA doesn't think you're mature enough to smoke a cig, there's no way you're mature enough to cast a vote.

But we know that. This isn't about giving 17 yr olds a voice.

If I'm being perfectly frank and honest, I think Voting Age should be at least into the 20s based on the entitlement, obliviousness and lack of awareness currently held by 95% of the 20 year olds I see today.

Public education and continuous programming for years has truly sabotaged these younger generations.

It is frightening how materialistic, gullible, unquestioning and predictable many of these younger folks behave.

If you are a younger person on this site, I mean no offense AT ALL but you can't tell me many of your peers or those of similar demographics/age are on ATS, staying up-to-speed with the Gvt, Inside Corruption, Sabre-Rattling War-Hungry nations challenging each other, etc. etc. etc..

I am in my late 20s and try to connect with my younger sibling, her friends, younger co-workers and acquantances.. and they don't know who Edward Sowden is, what the illegal NSA suveillance program was, what Wikileaks is or Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, George Soros - the illegal and sellout-moves done by Clinton, Obama, Bush, Tony Blair, the Royal Family & Vatican/Catholic Mafioso. U.S and the West's elected leaders selling out their sovereign nations' safety for private interests and the highest bidders... the list goes on and on. I have yet to meet anyone younger than their early 20s who has a CLUE about even 1 thing I've mentioned.

I'm sure they are out there, but I am highly convinced that they are a small minority among the rest

Raise it to 21 to get most of the college Marxists out of the voter pool.

Lets hike up the military recruitment age as well.

If 18 isn't mature enough to have a drink, smoke in California, etc., then there's no way these kids are mature enough to voluntarily fight and die for corporate interests... err..."the country".

It's absurd. After the miserable options we were given this past election... every voter deserved a drink afterwards.

According to some sources, Generation Z (The Generation after Millennials) are more conservative than Baby Boomers, X and Millennials.

Flagged for importance of people knowing about this diabolical dark electioneering scheme.

I think normally only teenagers are dumb enough to sign up for getting their arms blown off. Although I guess most of them do it for the GI Bill to pay for school. Perhaps they should be allowed to drink at 18 on base when they sign up. The whole point of the 21 booze rule is teenagers are too dumb and rowdy o drink responsibly. Their 21 to smoke rule is just nuts in light of that, although smoking is bad mmkay.

At 18 you're a legal adult so it makes sense to allow voting then. There should be ways to vote earlier if you're emancipated or something too since you're considered an adult then as well.

But at 18 you can die for your country so you better damn well be able to vote within it too.

In fact all age requirements should be at 18. Waiting till 21 to drink or smoke is dumb. All that is saying is that you're an adult at 18, but your not really. Such BS.

We're overprotective at that point.

If we actually knew how to raise kids into adults they'd be ready for the world by 15 or 16 anyway.

the nefarious plan will involve downloading and app for electronic voting with rewards given based on "likes" and demographic participation.

"your reward for downloading and participating in the elections entitles you top a free Super Mac upgrade"

When I see what happened after the election of Trump, I think the voting age should be increased to 21.

Why am I not surprised that Soros's hidden hand is pushing for this

My thought, you set an age 18 or 21, at that point anything is on. I drove 30 miles to drink at 18, served my country and saw 18 YO's not allowed to drink. Either you are old enough or not!

As another poster said then maybe the voting age and military enlistment age should be raised to 21. The only problem would
be GI School fees assistance.

Maybe they should. Because 17 year olds always make great decisions.

Maybe all 18 YO's need to serve two years, and then maybe so many art history degrees wouldn't be produced.
