Trump is Messing with Canada!!

I honestly never really cared who won the presidency. I didn't think it would have that much of an impact on us in Canada. But then the immediate executives orders in the last month seems to have fcked with our country either directly or indirectly. Directly, trying to renegotiate NAFTA. He says he wants to mostly change things about Mexico, but we have our doubts. Around 30 states have Canada as their #1 trading partner, so any change without a clear plan going forward makes people nervous.

Indirectly, immigration and bans. I wonder do people in America still believe Mexicans are crossing the border en masse? There are a lot of central and south Americans coming over your border, however I do believe the rate of Mexican immigration is in the negative, and has been for a couple of years. To quote a South Park border patrol agent "awh we didn't want Obama to make it so #ty Mexicans wouldn't want to live here anymore(while they jump the fence to get back to Mexico)"

Well seems Trump has scared enough people and made things #ty enough that people are illegally pouring over the Canadian border. And now we have to deal with your immigrants and refugees. We have our own immigrants and refugees that we put through a system. Our country has a small population, we can't handle the volume and we're also not used to fiercely guarding our southern border. These people are asylum seekers and we can't necessarily turn them away. My point is Trump just indirectly caused a huge border problem for us that we did not see coming.

The last two things I talked about don't really bother me that much. This next one bothers me so god damn much. The article for the story is below. In a nutshell: a born and raised Canadian citizen with no criminal record was denied entry into the United States. She isn't on any watch list. The only explanation, which even she was very reluctant to believe, for her being denied entry is her brown skin. I mean even if she was being racially profiled, she's of Indian descent, not Arab. Also she was with two white girls. She was detained for 6 hours, fingerprinted and photographed for no fcking reason.

I am 100% certain that when I cross the American border I can go on vacation or visit family without an immigration visa and without problems. I say this because I'm a white male who speaks English, but I thought the same would be true for all Canadians. I mean we let your 18-20 year olds come up here and drink before their legally allowed, least you could do is let a Canadian-Indian girl and her friends go down to a spa for the day you heartless fcks.

I consider my self way closer to left than fight and am totally against the Fox News retype propaganda and conspiracy theories.

However I'm not sure I but that illegal immigration is declining..

most hispanics vote dem so there is a vested interest in more Hispanic immigration and you can't actually track illegal immigration numbers because they don't report in.


Also the US trade agreements have destroyed the middle class here, making it better for the rich here and foreign workers but killing the majority of good jobs here...

Yes, it's quite insane that they give us Cdns such a ridiculous time at the border. Almost everyone I know has been hassled over just being Canadian, but if we want to go down for just a day or two, and have darker skin, we have to apply for immigration even though it's just a really short visit.

It's gotten stupid beyond belief- there's really no reason anymore for any Cdn to need to go south. There's nothing we need there.

Do you know or talk to anyone who lives on or near the border? I find it pretty condescending that a guy living in Canada is telling people in America what it's like in regards to illegal immigration. I'm in Ohio and even we have seen huge influxes of both refugees from Somalia and illegals from the south.

Funny thing is, I went to Canada once and was pulled over, searched, fingerprinted, photographed and then denied entry in to Canada. I had to turn around and drive home. They gave me no explanation. How did my white skin not protect me from that? Why is Canada so fascist?

I don't understand, I said there was illegal immigration but that they weren't Mexicans, they're mostly central Americans. Am I wrong? Everyone has Somalian refugees. I never said you were racist for wanting to control your borders. You people just caused us border problems we've never had. PS: the canadian girl went to the US Embassy in Ottawa and they told her she didn't need a visa and shouldn't have been turned away.

The people that are coming across the border in Manitoba are going to have to find a different entry point soon, before the floods that hit that spot every year.

People have stopped trying to get into the US ILLEGALLY due to the fact they know they will now be sent back, the ILLEGALS in the US are now going to Canada as they know they will be welcomed and given a ton of handouts to boot.

Is it them showing up?

Or is it the government welcoming them with open arms, giving them free #, and turning their cities into sanctuaries all the while promoting these facts.



The problem isn't the people showing up, it's the government not doing anything about it.

I didn't say I didn't like illegal immigrants, nor did I say they were a drain on our economy. I said we have our own systems in place for immigration and refugees which works for us. But your immigrants and refugees didn't go through our system. We're not used to receiving immigrants or refugees on foot. We're not equipped for this sh*t is what I'm saying.
