Screw that, I like to sleep occasionally.

That's why my involvement with SOF was limited to flying them around.

Not thrilled with this, but since they are there... here is to hoping they have a clear objective and a clear timeline for coming home.

Get in smash stuff and kill the bad guys and come home safe.

I remember a sort of dog-like gratitude at finding the "hidden" bags of quarter pounders and apples that were in the helicopter once during that school. You can, in fact, get half a qp in your mouth at one go if you're hungry enough.

I don't know who stuffed the chow into that chopper, but I'd buy them a dinner at Ruth's.

eta: I also saw, towards the end, one of the 'captured enemy' leg troops try to cleverly hide the maps we were obviously supposed to find in his cammies, and one of the more tired guys just sliced his clothing off with a knife. Fatigue and anger go a long way towards making a badass, I suppose.

Exodus 20:13
Thou shall not commit murder

2 Kings 19:35
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

Joshua 10:12
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

God has made the sun stop in the heavens to allow wars to be fought.

Murder is an "unrighteous" killing. There are more than a few examples of God killing or condoning the killing of others.

One can "kill" and still be "righteous" before God. One can never "commit murder" and be righteous before God.

I have to wonder if people just look for Bible scriptures to try to prove a point. Unbelievers looking to argue the "word of God" whilst they believe none of it. Can anything be more blasphemous?

That was the worst piece of armchair warrior propaganda. Even the UN Syrian Ambassador made an idiot of himself reading out the list of names. It was a fabrication and a poor one at that. It was right up there with Scorcha Faal fairy tales!

I am damn well aware about the distinction between a justified killing and a murder. Firstly, even justified killings, such as what king David did, were enough to disqualify David from building God's temple. Solomon had to do it instead, even though David followed God's instructions. Secondly, what we are doing overseas are almost NEVER justified killings, and it's questionable if killing radicalized people who were radicalized BY US is ethical either. I know there are dangerous. Perhaps we should stay away from them! If they come HERE with that crap, THEN would be the time to defend ourselves...

Yeah, I just seen it. But from the looks of it, it seems like more of a show of force as they are described as being in full view with each stryker having a large American flag waving from it.

Interesting...

World war 3 may start?? Seriously?? What else do you call it when every empire and many of its vassals have multiple coalitions on multiple fronts in nearly the same areas as the last world war??

Besides boots on the ground since 2015 at least.

French, German, British, American, Israeli and Turkish forces have been inside Syria since at least 2015, with youtube videos confirming it all. Some people want to beat around the bus though and use double speak to rationalize that special forces soldiers do no count as boots on the ground.

Do they wear #ing boots? Are they on the #ing ground?? Are they armed and work under the authority of the Pentagon?? Those are damn soldiers on the ground then.

Word is they deployed an armored column to prevent a conflict between the occupying Syrian Defense Forces led by the Kurdish YPG and Turkey's armed forces who are looking to give them the boot.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the situation would get more complicated in case of a unilateral move by Ankara. He noted that talks at the military level are underway. Yildirim’s remarks come as the Pentagon says it has positioned a small number of U-S forces in and around Manbij to deter attacks. The US refused to determine the number of troops stationed in the area. Meanwhile, Syrian government forces have taken over a number of villages, west of the town from the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces who are supported by Washington. This is in accordance with a deal brokered by Russia. The villages have been a focus of fighting since Wednesday between Turkish-backed militants and the SDF forces who include Kurdish YPG fighters. These are viewed by Turkey as terrorists. The SDF fighters captured Manbij in August 2016.

Free Syrian Army, doing what they are paid to do, attack Kurds.

I also want to add this, Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend explaining a complex battlefield and all parties involved around the Manbij, Al-Bab area a week ago.

I'll be thinking about them.

My brother just joined that Marines and I really hope he can stay out of the sand box...
