It turns out, though, that even Star Wars can trigger people in this age of constant oppression, and the Princeton Class of 2012 was quickly faced with a quandary over their themed party: If people dressed like Stormtroopers, would they be mistaken for Nazis?

It's crazy that I know multiple people that have never seen Star Wars - but even they know what a Stormtrooper is when they see one.

Is Yoda offensive to "little people" too?

Yes. And Chewbaka is offensive to Bigfoot. Dang, I hadn't realized how utterly racist and nazi and generally offensive Star Wars was.

Donald Rumsfeld, Jeff Bezos and Michelle Obama are Princeton grads. There are also many grads who aren't total tools, "Stormtrooper" stupidity aside.

None of which is anybody in this thread denying.

And, also, none of that is referenced in the publication put out by the reunion committee. They specifically referenced the history of the word "stormtrooper" and only the word stormtrooper.

Nobody said anything about Imperial officers' uniforms.

Being a Star Trek kind of person I think they should all be tarred and feathered for even considering that theme

What in the hell is wrong with these people. I think it's time that the bottled water they drink be tested.

FYI, the "people" you are referring to are random trolls on the internet, not an accredited Ivy League school.

How about this college student debating a policy called "Oops....Ouch" at a North Carolina college??

Wait til the star wars remake that casts Princess Lea as a transgender.

Or Chebacca as a gay alien.

And Yoda as an illegal immigrant.

Don't put anything past hollylame, and places of 'higher education' these days.

She was subsequently suspended for uploading the below discussion to Facebook...

Have colleges simply turned into petri dishes to grow liberals??
It certainly appears that way...

That chick goes to one of the absolute most liberal-leaning colleges in all of America, in one of the most liberal-leaning cities in the Carolinas. Not even a tiny bit surprised at how that conversation went down.

So to answer your question in a word: no. The college she attends has been a hyper-liberal college for years and years, and I would say that at least in her college's case it didn't "turn in to" anything; it's always been like it is now.

Yoda was an illegal alien on Dagobah...

As the name belies, Dagobah was a planet for Italians...

They have since built a space wall...

People got butthurt about Overwatch adding in two new heroes which were both female and was considered feminist propoganda.

What?!?!

I never seen that.

The Controversy was that the female character, the one that is displayed the most had an extremely tight legging on that outlined her booty. The horror, It looked like every other 20 something who wears a legging with a thong.

Next thing you'll hear will be the World Chess Federation abandoning the title "Grandmaster" for its best players because it sounds too much like the "Grand Wizard" of the KKK.

I'd say the most offensive part of all of this is for some idiotic reason they used R2-D2 in BB-8 colours instead of just using BB-8 as their mascot.

So these people are at Princeton, one of the world's top universities?

And they needed someone else to tell them of The origin of the word Stormtroopers? And they were incapable of seeing the connection between the imperial forces and those of the Third Reich?
What are they studying? bloody pottery?

Being offended by everything is something students seem to do these days, but I am quite shocked at how bloody stupid they are.

I think it is fairly obvious that they claim ignorance as an excuse. They probably know that they cannot have a rational debate with "triggered" people and opted for the easy solution: cave in and beg for their forgiveness.
