The OP references 'foreign' press, not US media. Their words, not local. Hence the title "Around the World."

Accepting that other countries and continents like Asia and Africa have more direct experience with "dictators" and "dictatorships" than the US (other than justifying military expenditures to deal with same), they might be considered by some to be more qualified to comment.
