Jings Crivvens, help ma boab!
Ah leave yeez fur an oor and jist luk at thuh place!

Wimmen!

Well, I'm just gorgeous... 6'3"... 220lbs...
Beer bellied, balding... and whatever hair I have left (especially in my beard) has gone a whiter shade of pale!!

I've been 6'3" since my teens, but was always about 180lbs back then.
I think I've got heavier since my Chronic Fatigue set in and my auld knees started playing up!!
I'm nowhere near as active as I used to be and I do still love my home-cooking and beer.
But, hey - you've got to live your life, right?

Hey Gordi!! Thanks for chiming in!

I actually worried that I had "over shared" information and considered deleting what I'd written.

Then I received a private message from a friendly lurker who informed me that they could relate to my experiences about being judged. So I decided to leave it up...besides, it's the truth.

When I was going through the older threads this morning I came across a lot of pics we had all posted. You pretty much still look the same (except for the beard), but holy cow!! have your boys ever grown up a lot!!
I think that's when I realized that 3 years had passed.

Anyways, in here we all love each other for our souls not our looks.
If only we could make that contagious!

This is one of the oldest scenes in this arc. It is a long, but crucial scene, with very important events and lasting consequences. I hope you enjoy this part of the story.

Today's episode: The Seeress's Secret, part 1

The following sunrise seemed far too early. Gaalen was sore from the combat with the gith-gesaarm and the extra work of cleanup. His eyes felt as though someone had poured sand in them, and it seemed as though the floor was not entirely stable. He had only been able to sleep about three hours before rising to meet the Seeress for ro-ti instruction in the training yards.

Afterward, he escorted her to the Temple. They had just reached the Seeress’s apartments in the Water Quarter when they were stopped by a young male Bearer.

“Seeress Meron,” the gangly acolyte bobbed, sweat sheening his forehead. “Seer Ethenral has asked for you in the Sunrise Quarter,” motioning back the way they had come.

“I will attend him shortly, thank you.”

Siere turned back to Gaalen, but the acolyte stayed, wringing his hands and bouncing on his toes nervously. Siere must have noticed Gaalen still looking at the young man, for she turned to him again.

“I will attend Seer Ethenral as soon as I am ready, child. Was there something else?”

“I’m sorry, your Grace, but I am to bring you immediately.”

“I see. Very well, shall we then, Lord Captain?” Gaalen noticed a tightness around her eyes and the corners of her mouth.

The Temple was a simple design – a ring, of course. The central hall – the Ringhall – was where people gathered for services. Running outside the Ringhall was a hallway of arches with rooms on the outside, called the Inner Ring – generally Seers’ apartments and audience halls mostly, although it also contained the occasional memorial or small worship hall. The Outer Ring contained the rooms needed for the daily activities – servants’ quarters, kitchens, and the like. Between the two was a mostly open space of gardens and courtyards. The acolyte led them to a small room with an oak door. Outside stood a thin, balding Seer in white robes, attended by a few Bearers – all boys.

“Ah yes, thank you for coming, Seeress…my Lord…?”

“Seer Ethenral, this is Lord Captain Gaalen Braeghe.”

“Of course, Seeress Meron’s guardian angel,” he smiled patronizingly.

“Nothing quite so divine, I fear. I am just a soldier, your Grace.”

“Yes. Well. We are thankful for your protection of our precious Seeress, Lord Captain,” he said, a bit more brusquely now. Addressing Siere, he continued, “I wonder if you would consider a petitioner for me, given your,” he glanced at Gaalen, “particular expertise. Would you please?” He gestured to the closed door.

“Of course, Seer, after you.”

“Oh, please call me Daryc, your Grace,” he said with a simpering smile. Gaalen fought to keep from rolling his eyes at this Seer Ethenral.

“That would not be appropriate, Seer.” Gaalen tried unsuccessfully not to smile, instead turning to scan the Bearers and acolytes busily scurrying from place to place.

“Of course, Seeress,” Ethenral bobbed his head, a flush rising in his cheeks.

They approached the small room. Ethenral motioned to the acolytes as Siere disappeared inside, followed by Seer Ethenral, who turned to Gaalen. “Ah, I’m sorry, my Lord, but if you would please wait…”

“Let him in please, Seer Ethenral,” came Siere’s velvety voice.

The Seer’s brow furrowed, but he reluctantly stepped aside, allowing Gaalen in. Siere did not even glance at him, her eyes fixed on a ragged figured curled knees-to-chest in a corner. It was a girl, Gaalen guessed she was about fifteen, in a well-tailored but torn and dirtied light blue dress. Arms bruised purple clutched her knees tightly, and she rocked back and forth, whimpering. Disheveled brown hair fell over her face.

“Lord Braeghe,” Siere said, still not looking at him, “Please leave your weapons outside.”

“My Lady, I…”

“I insist, Lord Braeghe.”

Pursing his lips, Gaalen complied.

Hey Gordi!! Thanks for chiming in!

I actually worried that I had "over shared" information and considered deleting what I'd written.

You're welcome... but... Ye cannie "bail" on me now wummin!

Then I received a private message from a friendly lurker who informed me that they could relate to my experiences about being judged. So I decided to leave it up...besides, it's the truth.

Ahh... another junkie friend from the rehab unit or???? JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!

When I was going through the older threads this morning I came across a lot of pics we had all posted. You pretty much still look the same (except for the beard), but holy cow!! have your boys ever grown up a lot!!
I think that's when I realized that 3 years had passed.

ohhh, thanks but I think I've aged terribly in the last 3 years and I'm blaming YOU guys in the Shed!!! LOL
I've been under a lot of stress in those 3 years and i think THAT is what ages us worse than anything!
The worry? The constant "weight" on our minds? Goodness knows what I'd be like if I DIDN'T have the shed to hide in from time to time!!!
And YES!!! The boys have changed so much!!!! Hard to believe isn't it.

Anyways, in here we all love each other for our souls not our looks.
If only we could make that contagious!

Not my looks??? (sniff) not.... my....
THANK FOLK FOR THAT!!!! ROFL!!!!

Fourth Street Hill in Bluefield...... I thought that Mickey D's looked familiar. We've got places like that up here too. Boonesborough Road between Deep Water and Falls View is like that somewhat. Instead of the hills you have to worry about. It's people coming at you around a blind corner that you have to worry about.

One reason I like this type of interface.. we can really know someone by their heart/mind rather than getting stuck on the external.

I haven't said Hello and welcome to this magical realm of The Shed. But whilst doing a speed read I caught this phrase and that is exactly why I love ATS. We are not an ever fading face, race, gender, age, but a heart, a soul.

Oh my gosh ladies, I really can't wait for humanity to evolve a bit beyond the superficial way we treat each other all the time.

One reason I like this type of interface.. we can really know someone by their heart/mind rather than getting stuck on the external.

And just look how beautiful we are!

Had to bring this quote up. Perfect!!!!! Yes!

Sorry folks that I missed you all earlier!

I missed all the weight talk. I am an overweight woman. My meds don't help. Being disabled doesn't help and loving carbs doesn't help either. One thing I hate with a passion is overweight women who wear clothes that are so damned tight, it looks like they've been painted on. Like...don't they have a mirror????
I have always loved clothes and looking nice, so I buy the size that is appropriate for me. I get compliments on my clothes when I'm out places.

My friends get mad when I try to be funny and say things like, "Pretty soon, I'll be wearing tents." LOL There are so many lovely styles and choices now for overweight women. There is no reason for a big lady to look dumpy or frumpy. So there, I got to put my two cents in. Now you skinny chicks...shut up and stop complaining! Kidding! I'm jealous. I used to have a nice body.

Shep, sorry I didn't thank you for making another story entry!

Gordi, your good looks don't come from that current avatar! Bahahaha!

Forgot to thank everyone for the well wishes on my ultra sound. They are always finding things wrong when I have tests so it doesn't help my anxiety! I won't get into all my health problems or I would have to write a book and you guys might cry and feel really bad for me. We all have our stuff to deal with and I know I'm not alone.

I am so very grateful that we have this place and each other! There is so much fun, love, compassion and magic. It really is a sacred and wondrous place for me!

Mayor Night Star, you don't need to thank me! It is very special to me to post them at all. The Shed is so supportive of my writing that it's definitely my pleasure to post my story here.

If you all ever get sick of Falling you need to promise me you'll let me know. Gently.

We actually had to ask for permission to have this type of thread that is a combination of chit chat and story telling. So, don't stop writing! I made it so that my story line doesn't have anything special going on so I can be free to join in the collaboration when everyone is ready. Whatever I post now will just be fillers until it gets going.

How are you tonight Hun?

I hope you aren't too scared dear, but then again if that rocks your boat I am all for it.
Do you want a scary story or a pillow to hide behind.
You made me laugh. I don't have a chance to catch typos that often.
Oh it wasn't a typo.
Sorry
