Why are these large "news" organizations sending large news/video crews to Antarctica now?
The Break in the Larsen Ice Shelf Is Bad for the Planet, But Huge for Science
...the rift was about 18 miles long during his 2015 visit, it is now over 100 miles long. In just the last two months, it grew by 17 miles—suggesting that it will calve any day now, forming an iceberg the size of Delaware. Only 20 miles hold the ice together. The scientists are keeping a close eye on it, because the iceberg might finally reveal if their model is right—and how much sea level rise the world could contend with as a result.

you COULD contact thier PR dept and ask - but i suppose that will not generate the answer you want
Done.
Actually I contacted their main Station Mgr in Atlanta.
I've done it before and always got an answer.
I'll post their reply when I get it.
Actually scratch that - I sent an email to Barbara Levin who is the VP of CNN/U.S. Communications.
I'll keep folks posted as to response.

I think they are doing some climate change documentaries and reports.
Perhaps this is part of it.
www.adweek.com...
I think that's the CBS "cover story".
Haven't seen a peep from CNN.
Could be all the climate change events that are happening re: ice shelves breaking off, etc.
Could also be something else.
Haven't a fair number of very high-level people recently visited Antarctica?
Why?
I think the story is bigger than climate change. I think the ice melts may have uncovered something extraordinary and which can't be kept secret any longer.
As to what that may be, who knows...
You gotta love ATS...
The hell with politics - this is something we can really get our teeth into!
What ice melts?
There are record Ice sheet growths there.
That proves global warming is bunch of grade A bullsnip.

It's happening soon. And science is news.

Probably to come up with more fake news stories.

They might be setting up the next onslaught of "scientific" climate change reports that are being paid for.

If that's science, people need to eat their shorts.
Next time you get a big gulp slurpy, you better hurry and drink it before the ice melts and overflows out of the cup.
