I would say maybe at one time or one point in my life there were songs which did that. Now a days, cant say they have near the same effect they once
did. But I think its like that for everybody.
I generally hear a song, and generally at random, and most likely from a youtube link, and 50% of the time its a 3 in 5 chance that it was randomly
linked with something I searched or stumbled on, in a 90% chance based soley on the words search or interest engine both youtube and google seem to
use. The other 7% its just something I heard on the radio, which just shows how much radio has become just a re run show.
For instance yesterday I was looking for a song I heard more then a few times so I can post in a thread about strange things, and this song below was
thereby linked with it. I listened to it, and thought "hmm its pretty cool, but not the song I was looking for"
I cant say it moves me in any way or gives me any visceral feelings. I have come to believe that no song really does that, only but the stages of
your life, partake and echo such feelings you may or may not have at any given moment. But it is pretty cool.
So ya, this song was pretty cool about a day ago, still is I suppose, in a way.
It was released in 1966,I was looking at the heading under it and thought "No way! But they really did dress like that back then?" It surely
deserves to be in the strange searchlight, much more so since for some reason YouTube thought it would apply.
But anyways, it is something that most latest songs now a days don't have. I like to call that thing "not sucking" and in that respect whatever
algorithm there search and link engines use, is right on target.
youtube was bought by google.
SO of course youtube has good algorithms..
Won't ever be as good as another human saying... "You havn't heard this?? I've got to show you.."
Friends are the best algorithm.
And on another point. I grew up listening to beatles and beach boys and a million things I can't properly name..
But then I am a nineties kid.. Everything about the 90s is me.
So I should be stuck on amazing 90s music like:
That was my "timeline" on music..
If you don't like the new stuff you aren't looking at the right things. EVERYTHING is there now. You can find new bands that are 80s bands.. You can
find anything.
What's missing is the song meaning something.. But that is not true in any way shape or form.
I find much more meaning out of my age group..
The 90s #ed anyone who grew up then..
Older people let us think everything was like a disney movie... Yea us 30 somethings have a weird mix of nostalgia, AND breaking out of our shell.
But closing oneself off from new music is like "life used to be real, now I'll complain and not bring anything new to the table."
there is 1000 times as much music now. You must look. It's NOT on the radio. Now we are being "Moarched"
to a high degree.
It's not the full story.
Read more stories. I read my mom's story of her time. She gave me great music.
If you are not making food yourself, I'm not sure how one could complain to the farmers.. The farmers raised by those people with their music...
Maybe better music was needed to make better parents for us? We went the way we were taught..
I'm just being goofy. Pay me no mind.
When I grew up it was the best music ever!
Imagine that?
but ...
come on..
yea?
I miss it..
but people are different now.

Sorry to disappoint I am not that old. I suppose I am a 90s kid to. Or at least chronologically speaking. And if were not speaking in terms of
chronology, or tastes in music. The 90s were probably the most mixed and varied of an era or at least as far as songs go. In fact in most other things
as well.
Though for the life of me I cant quite remember any one song off the top of my head from then. But I am 100% sure they exist.

depends what you looked at..
No one person has the same life..
I freaking love every different aspect of the 90s.
I'll always miss it.
But between that and "classic" music. Sometimes none of the old stuff can hit the right spot. AS in No where close.. back then it was like 95% record
labels and now you would be laughed at if you signed any deal. Dinosaurs have to die sometime.

Wow. This thread could take awhile to get through completely.
Interesting song choices and interesting to know that they impact on the different members who have contributed.
One that is deeply felt for both me and someone I love more than life itself is I won't see you tonight parts 1 & 2.
Avenged Sevenfold, Waking the Fallen album.
The particular clip that we used to play on repeat on Youtube has been removed a while back so we listen to the CD as necessary.
Here's a link though and they may seem to be very sad and hopeless song lyrics but, we find/found strength in them...somehow...I suppose it's all
subjective, isn't it?
Hey, never heard of Shirley Caesar before and really liked it! And that Bill Withers song is one of me fav's.
And how could we have come so far without mentioning this one-of-a-kind classic by Queen.
As for Meatloaf.. thank you for your consideration..lol.. even though I wasn't so considerate and blasted you with more rap music after you admitted
you didn't care for it.
Heard of Candi Staton?

lol, you're right.. that song you posted did have that special something that you might call "not sucking"
Yes, I agree that we all get a bit jaded and hardened by life. I suppose what I meant by songs hitting me on a visceral level.. almost like there are
tones that just resonate with our being (harmonize) and you might feel it in your solar plexus or your (now I'm getting a bit new agey) heart chakra
area or something like that. I think a song can make you feel sad, happy, just by using a minor or major key or through the lyrics but that's not
exactly what I was referring to.
I suppose those songs I posted in my OP did just that. I could feel those notes (tone) on an elemental level of sorts.
I think all matter has a unique frequency. Perhaps certain notes hit that frequency or harmonize with them??
Would you like to try an experiment with me?
I'm going to post this song, and could you just listen, see if it resonates with you (for me right in the heart chakra area)?
Why not, could be fun! You could be my control, to see if it's just a personal thing or a universal chord.
Warning: It's opera. Also, is that lady so perfectly the stereotypical female opera singer or am I tripping?
Obviously, feel free to decline my proposal, I just thought it would be interesting. If interested- 2:20 on the track is where that note hits me
right in the core of my being.
Anyway, thanks for the interesting post and the song! I liked it.
