I have the opposite problem. I play open betas or free trials of games and really like them, but I don't buy them even though I would probably enjoy playing them again.

On the other hand, I buy early access games and curse them and the developers the entire time I'm playing them.

I also spend waaaaaaay too much on computer parts and upgrades per year when I play games that don't really need them. For example, within the past few months I have upgraded my GPU from an HD 7850 to an R9 Fury, and from 8 GB of RAM to 24. What game am I fixed on playing now?

The Sims 3.

Stop judging me.

I'm doing my best! Upgrading to a Fury for the sims is pretty funny though. At least you know you have the power should you need it!

It wasn't for the Sims. I just go through phases where I get hooked on a particular game for about a month, then I get tired of playing it. Last month it was Fallout 4, and the Fury really helped in that game compared to my 7850.

I'm always looking on Newegg, drooling over things I would never spend that much money on. The Fury dropped so much in price though, I couldn't NOT get it. It went from like $400 or something crazy to about $280 when I bought it. I did see it as low as $240 with a mail-in-rebate after I bought it, but it's settled at about $260 now. Then I convinced a friend of mine that I game with to also upgrade his HD 7850 to the same Fury. He's really enjoying it now too. He had to take the Dremel to his hard drive bays for it to fit though. Luckily, I have a big enough case that I don't have to worry.

I've heard of it plenty before, I just don't really bother. I rarely buy from Amazon, but I'll do it if the price is lower, but I mostly just stick to Newegg. I have bought some from FrozenCPU in the past, but that was before their owner got high and drunk as crap and wrecked the place and either fired everyone or everyone quit. Either way, don't bother with them anymore.

Nah just an overload on such things. It was a bit more fun in many ways when it was just a pixelated digital sprite jumping around on a 16bit screen. That and its all been done, I personally have a bunch of games I played half through and now realise I probably will never finish them, even though there is nothing wrong with them, and for others they have played the hell of them.

But I suppose you grow out of it, or it gets boring, or it just sort of gets to expecting and not that thrilling anymore. A bunch of other things I suppose. I would say its more a phase in your life, especially in MMOs or online FPS, or such games. Been trying to get back into Street Fighter V, but mostly because I had a blast when I was young playing at friends houses and at arcades.

But now, the game is more of a job then something you can pick up and play. Not saying its bad, and would not have it any other way. But you know, a bit time consuming. Most times I go online I will win some matches but get handled once I start going up in ranks, and well considering there are people who spend more then 5 hours every day practicing to pull of things a fraction of a second faster, or counting frames. Ya, I call that a job more or less.

Most fun I had was trolling people or starting my own thieves guild in MMOs populated by devious 10 yr olds, my little rag tag band of evil ragamuffins bent on causing chaos and mayhem, that and shooting up buddies on line in FPS's before bed time. After that it sort of went down hill. Only a few games can keep my interest now a days, and there mostly RPG types that have some action and an engrossing story or game mechanics. The rest, are either a job, or seen it before.

Why does your title have a trigger warning for a post that is in no way triggering? Sorry, who here is getting triggered because some guy buys a game and doesn't play it? Anyone?

Second verse, same as the first (same response as the other thread).

You just never know what some folks may get triggered over.

I've more than I'd like, that is for sure.

MikeGrouchy brought some really good info into this thread regarding it.
