"We have already seen multiple attempts on Trump's life, some aired live and watchable on youtube. "

Hmmm, I cant recall anything like that.

But I imagine since you mentioned it, you can provide links.

Thanks.

There was an incident where secret service rushed him off stage.

there was another incident where he was on stage outside near some airplanes. There were also incidents where he had to be escorted off the free way because of the potential of violent protesters, the footage for that one is from a helicopter. There are a few others where violence breaks out and someone is quickly escorted away. how many each person sees as a credible threat varies from person to person, however, that violence & death have been pursued more than once is undeniable.

The real issue is the effective potential of a stand down order or chaos at the inauguration as a consequence of changing leadership at the last minute.

Protesters= assassins???

Protesters are not violent. The minute they become violent they are criminals, not assassins, but please don't call them protesters.
As for assassination attempts, there have been 3 that I know of. None of them got very far, but I assume you don't need to see Trump take a bullet before you start counting.

Yeah yeah that's not an assassination attempt nor do protesters saying they'd like him dead make them assassins.
An assassin would have to have killed someone. Lee Harvey Oswald was an assassin.
An assassination attempt would need an actual attempt being made not just talk about it.

Um no. Anyone having any known desire or intentions to kill a public figure is considered a potential assassin. You do not first have to kill someone to be one. The secret service doesn't wait to for an attempt being made before they consider someone a threat. People who even talk about doing that are going to be considered potential assassins. If you want to relate the word "assassin" to James Bond romanticism though go right ahead.

Neither trolling nor politically baiting

In a sense, it's one of those stories where, well i guess,
we're being given most plain and dowdy, simplest of facts
the obvious parts being left out

It leaves things open to our own interpretation

...

We all here, i think, can easily accept that on the day,
both the old, and the new, inauguration guards will both be on site together
will have been working together up until then,
and it's cool

From a "technical" transnational point of view,
there would be no inherant issue about their handing over

But that's us how we can imagine things

....

How about Joe Blow who reads the same article...
What's his reaction going to be ?
hmm ?

I can easily see a kind of knee jerk reaction
The pres ain't safe, it's a set up !

...

If there is indeed a (mis)conception about 1 guy being replaced by .. heu.. no-one
(according to whichever newspaper you're reading )
this can then be perpetuated and spun out to mean

"Oh my god, if we can't protect the pres ... how can we defend against clashes between protesters ?"
"oh my god, so many haters"
" Well, like yeah dude ! It takes one nut job on the big day to make a name for himself*"
...

The .... whoever's ('you decide the 'who' in ever's is) ... now have a new argument
The traditional public swearing in, takes place without a public !!!!!!!!!!!!

Too risky, too many people to protect
Too many potental assasins to counteract

Protesters planning to blockade inauguration checkpoints

A conservative group also shared with FoxNews.com what it said was audio from a Jan. 8 #DisruptJ20 meeting at a Washington church, giving even greater insight into the group's planned D.C. "shutdown."

#DisruptJ20 members openly described plans to blockade checkpoints. One organizer told Fox News he hopes to “turn the inauguration into as big of a clusterf--- as possible.”

"We’re going to be doing blockades," the woman says in the audio. "We’re going to [be] blockading checkpoints into the security zones. We're also going to be blockading roads and other modes of transit into the city."

Source with audio

The real fascists have their expensive well organized protest plans in place, and this tampering with the National Guard looks like inside help for them.

Their actions are exactly what a planned attack would include, disruptions and confusion keeping security busy for no reason other than to make an attack more statistically likely to succeed. Are we witnessing accomplices to a crime they hope to aid?

Progressives think that disrupting the Inauguration is going to somehow be a success for them. I can already tell you the result if they manage it... millions of people on the fence are going to side with Trump and find it shameful that people would do this to him and America on Inauguration Day. It will be a major boost for him as the world hits back at the domestic terrorists. It will also be remembered in four years... It will be great for the campaign in 2020 to show America again what the alternative is. It's highlight reel gold.

Now a very large PEACEFUL crowd of protesters would have more of an effect, but progressives are not capable of controlling their emotions... they'll bite.

There was only one event I can think of, an autistic British man who tried to take a cops gun so he could shoot Trump. Apparently he planned this out for an entire year.

Other than that, I can't think of any, unless the OP is talking about the time some protester not attempting to kill Trump ran behind Trump during a speech at his rally. SS quickly took him down. Same thing happened to Sanders.

It is all going to turn around and bite them in the end.
When the tens of thousands of bikers are told they cannot go down an American road in their own nation by the snowflakes, the fascist windbags will be wishing the National Guard were not stood down by Obama to protect them.

In case the thread didn't reflect the answer to why the DC National Guard General was stepping down at 12:01 during the Inauguration, the President-Elect made that decision. That is the fact of it.

It is not an assassination plot, just Trump removing another Obama appointee abruptly.

Good times.

Wash Po is establishment media. They get a copy of this memo from the IC? They do not mention who signed it.
IC = Obama

If Trump signed it don't you think that would be a giant story they could spin to the moon and back?
Instead they put it on their local news page.

The President of the United States is the Commander in Chief of the National Guard of the District of Columbia at all times.

U.S. federal government abolished the jurisdiction of the state of Maryland and states rights in Washington, D.C. to establish a federal district, there is no elected governor to command this guard unit. This is the only national guard unit that reports only to the U.S. president.

At this time I speculate. Doesn't Trump have more pressing matters to attend to at this time. He says he sends all his important stuff out via courier so who but the govt would leak this?

On the flip side, it is not uncommon for the POTUS to choose a new CO for the DC Nat'l Guard when he takes office.

Until Trump says he did this I have to think this is was Obama's doing for 2 Reasons:

It was leaked to Wash Po. who had their press credentials revoked by the Trump campaign.
www.csmonitor.com...

Trump uses a private courier.

Worse case scenario:
SHTF
Brigadier General in charge is told to Stand-down and does so.

Guns in Violin Case, Other Weapons Found Along Potomac in DC
dated Jan 4, 2017

I really hope Trump made this call.

Donald Trump has a crap load of Blackwater guards. These are heavily armed and armoured. At a Las Vegas rally in the election there was a protestor and Blackwater guards were around when Secret Service rushed Donald Trump backstage.

How can you say "that is the fact of it" when the author of the memo is not mentioned the article?

And when these riots and what not don't happen because of Obama then what? Oh wait, do you think every protest is directed and executed by Obama?

Yeah he must of started it AFTER appointing Ben Carson to HUD Secretary.

Ok reading the article I find this.
The general has held this position since 2008. He was appointed by George W. Bush.
The custom is that as each presidential term closes the general submits a letter of resignation.
President Barack Obama received the letter twice and twice he refused the man's resignation.
Trumps transition team received the letter this time and they accepted his resignation. So at 12:01 on Jan 20, 2017 this guy has to leave his post and turn it over to what ever minion trump has replaced him with.

It's trumps doing.

Didn't Obama appoint the current commander in 08?

Misunderstood news I'm thinking.
The story was pretty straight forward.
It's all right in there no speculation.
I am also thinking that mostly everyone who responded here did so based on the thread title and not the actual article and it's pretty clear that no one actually read the thing.
I don't even know why I bother posting anymore. This is pathetic.
