I just want to point out that since the election, the only verified stories of political/hate crimes that I've read have been against Trump supporters. Every other story has been a hoax perpetuated to make us look bad.

It's kind of backwards state. You can't publish stories about states which could pass for 3rd world countries in some respect having the high cultist rural population that it does, and pass that off as a generalization for American justice standards. Each state has its own laws and form of justice. Only some areas of law and justice are administered by the federal government.

It's because our culture is mostly revolving around sports and other competitive entertainment exercises. When you have a population of young people always competitive against one another, why would you be surprised when they grow up and don't want to help anyone else out but themselves get ahead?

We don't teach compassion, we don't teach unity, we teach how to be cut-throat and how to tattle tale on one another or how to go online and get assurance through other's listening to our rants online and agreeing blindly with us.

We have a nation of selfish-spoiled babies who don't look at their fellow men and women as equals but pawns to overcome and step on to get to the top.

We watch as our Government portrays this same mentality in the form of a 2 party bully system, where instead of coming together as intelligent elected officials who represent their constituent point of views and interests, they instead bicker and act like little kids who didn't get what they wanted for xmas and throws a fit.

We've either been trained to become the servants of this world or the entertainment, because when a people stops seeing one's self as just that and not separate groups based on skin color and economic value, we've done nothing but ruin our future and any chance we had at evolving.

Learn to be human 1st, then an American second.

Except that under Illinois and federal law, mental disability is one of the categories that is applicable to a hate crime.

The Situation at the Federal Level

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (Matthew Shepard/James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act) was signed into law by President Obama on October 28, 2009. The law adds sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, and disability to the categories included in existing federal hate crimes statute.

The Act strengthens existing federal hate crime laws in the following ways:

• It expands the law to authorize the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute certain bias-motivated crimes based on the victim’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. Before this law took effect, only race, color, religion or national origin were considered in hate crime determination.

• It eliminates a serious limitation on federal involvement under the previous law, which required that a victim of a bias-motivated crime was attacked because he/she was engaged in a specified federally-protected activity such as voting, serving on a jury, or attending school; and

• It adds “gender” and “gender identity” to the Hate Crimes Statistics Act.

This is just so typical of the behavior of many on the left...and most certainly the morons at CNN. They claim to be for truth, equality and justice, except when it runs against the truth, equality and justice they find more important than others.

Both Illinois and federal law include mental disability as one of the classes protected under hate crime law. Thirty seconds of searching by any journalist or pundit would show this. But because they are so afraid of the racial and political implications, they are willing not only to divert attention to the victim's disability, but then to widely and incorrectly report that because of it, it somehow invalidates any possibility of a hate crime assertion.

Apparently, people with mental disabilities just need to STFU, because the leftest narrators don't want people to know they are equally protected under hate crime legislation when the situation also happens to contain the wrong racial or political implications.

Oh, and as revealed by the Chicago Police Department last night, apparently there is now a 'stupidity' exception to hate crimes.

And even within those lines I think people probably need separation based upon intelligence and personality. Behavior. Start the process early before adulthood. Relocate people by state according to their own personal attributes.

while I see the need to protect the handicapped person more, since they might not have the mental ability to detect a threat as well as others and be more trusting...
I have to ask..
why shouldn't someone who treated another person, of the same race, of the same mental compacity, ect.. in this way not be treated by the criminal system with equal vengence as these people should be? or to put another way to treat anyone in such an inhumane way should result in such severe penalties, anything added to those penalties wouldn't mean much anyways.
