Another promise broken. Trump promised, since he doesn't have any experience in governing, that he would surround himself with the "best and the brightest" people in their fields. Carson may have been a brilliant neurosurgeon, but he doesn't know crap about housing and urban development....absolutely nothing. He's unqualified for the job, but who cares. right?

This appointment is just another sign of Trump's complete lack of respect for these offices and what they represent, and a another sign of his ignorance and lack of concern for governing. Trump doesn't care about housing and urban development, if he did, he's put someone in their who has demonstrated their interest and abilities, who can hit the floor running, so to speak, on day one! Carson will need tutoring, and inexperienced people need to rely on others, others who would take advantage of their ignorance, maybe with fake science like what was done in Flint Michigan. We've seen Carson fall for "fake science" before.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has told President-elect Donald Trump that he isn't interested in serving as secretary of Health and Human Services, a Carson ally confirmed to The Hill on Tuesday.
......
The renowned neurosurgeon was one of Trump's first primary opponents to jump on board his campaign. He was viewed as one of the likely picks to lead the agency that will work to roll back ObamaCare in the new administration.

WTF? Secretary of Health and Human Services......THAT he's qualified for, for HUD he is not!

Trump has chosen Ben Carson for Housing Secretary.

Great Choice!

Updated 1 min ago NEW YORK -- President-elect Donald Trump has chosen former Campaign 2016 rival Ben Carson to become secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Trump's decision, announced early Monday by his transition office, comes as the real estate mogul continues a series of interviews, meetings with aides and other deliberations aimed at forming his administration. In a statement, Trump says he's "thrilled to nominate" Carson, saying he "has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities."

Carson has been coy about joining the new administration, saying shortly after Trump's election victory that he wasn't certain he'd fit into a Cabinet-style role. The discussion at that time centered on speculation that Carson might be selected to head the sprawling Department of Health and Human Services.
No not a great choice. I work on housing issues. I work in part with subsidized housing programs such as Section 8. Carson has zero qualifications. Everyone in my office gasped when they heard.

His appointment is everything that is wrong with our govs system of political cronyism. Unqualified politically connected people being put in charge of extremely important, impactful programs.

Exactly, this appointment is an atrocity, and everything that's wrong with political appointments.

I work in a housing related gov office. And the leaders here too are damn political appointees without relevant knowledge. I hate it.

So you're telling me it's totally okay to give out positions of management without any experience in said field?

How well did who work out? You talking about Obama's HUD? What's your beef?

Sigh, The man who said he wasn't qualified to run the one department he has at least the right experience for gets a job that has nothing to do with his experience or training?

Maybe I should have praised Trump and landed a sweet post that I know nothing about.

The first head of HUD to actually have lived in and escaped public housing!

Another glass ceiling shattered by the Trump team despite all the critical racist progressives.

I don't think Ben Carson ever lived in "public housing". His mother received Welfare and Food Stamp subsidies. That being true, he has this to say about government assistance from above that "glass ceiling" you claim he has broken.

When you rob someone of their incentive to go out there and improve themselves, you are not doing them any favors. When you take somebody and pat them on the head and say, ‘There, there, you poor little thing. … Let me give you housing subsidies, let me give you free health care because you can’t do that.’ What would be much more empowering is to use our intellect and our resources to give those people a way up and out.

Now, his job is give out housing subsidies!

Nope.

Now his job is give to the urban poor who been plagued by multigenerational government dependence "a way up and out."

Thanks for finding that beautiful quote!

By giving them housing subsidies, the very thing he has condemned. Sad, really sad.

And it is a well established fact that Carson grew up in public housing.

Anyone who believes otherwise is clearly an ignorant victim of falling for "fake news".

Mr. Carson grew up poor, spent part of his childhood in public housing in Detroit, and became a celebrated neurosurgeon by the time he was in his 30s — a path that he attributes to his up-from-the-bootstraps philosophy

Alright, thanks for the citation. I stand corrected. Ben Carson is an even bigger hypocrite than I originally thought!
