Maybe this is the reason they allowed Trump to win. Knowing full well Clinton could never get Russia to negotiate, the Don softens the blow and makes an amazing deal with putin to allow the topple of Assad. If there would be something in it for russia, why wouldn't they?
I mean, how long can they afford to keep a large presence in Syria without gain for doing so?

I don't think that one can 'pre-empt' contemplation, but action is another thing.

Oh yes the hell we can. It's a very simple phrase called:

Don't even THINK about it.

As if we really had such control, right?
As if we actually choose what to think...
We each uniquely perceive what's in front of us, and that includes 'thoughts'.

Don't think of a pink striped tiger!

See what I mean? *__-

A " No Fly Zone " Imposed by the United States Will most Definitely Provoke a Military Conflict with Russia in Syria . This Borders on Insanity . The Neo Cons in the Republican Party have to be behind this . The American People Will Not Support it for Sure .

I wouldn't be so sure. Judging by the amount of support Clinton got, a significant portion of our population can't think for themselves, and the media tried to make it sound like Clinton's plan for Syria made sense, so there's quite a few out there who think trying to impose a no-fly zone would be a good idea.

Also, there's been a few comments that this is some scheme to keep Obama in office. When he steps down on 20 Jan, will all you guys who kept saying he'd never peacefully leave power and engineer some kind of crisis to stay in office please mark your homes. We'll be sending buses to round you up along with the idiots who thought the world would end in 2012. You'll be well cared for in nicer internment camps than we gave the Japanese in WW2. We're gonna have to keep you from reproducing though, I don't think our gene pool can handle it.

the only reason we should be there is to back syrians and russians and to follow isis back to their masters the saudis but that won't happen unless trump makes it so.everyone seems to think we care there to help poor people of syria that is the lie told by msm to the sheeple but really we are there helping isis the guerrilla freedom fighters we are aiding are actually isis and the reason we are helping them is because saudis asked us too. first thing trump needs to do is stop this bill second send special prosecutor or two clinton foundation and weed out the mass corruption . 3 side with russia and uk and other coalition members to excuse my term bitchslap saudi arabia royals and clerics alike. they have had 6the world by its curlies for to long.

Thanks for the newsflash.

Again we know ahead of time that certain representatives are not representing the people's will...
Should these perps be called to step-down as legitimate American representatives?

I vote yes.

It won't go anywhere. The assessment will be done, and the conclusion will be that it will be a very bad idea, don't do it! Bu I will follow this through the new year. I would like to read the details of the assessment itself once complete just to see every variable they account for. Should be an interesting read.

Why are people panicking over a bill that was introduced in July of 2016 let alone not bothering to read the bill?

HR 5732 Full Text - "Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act of 2016"

It changes up sanctions from a bill from 2012 and gives the President the authority to use the American military to establish a no fly zone / safe zone in Syria.

Passage of the bill does not create a no fly zone. It only allows for the President to enact one if need be.

A BIG difference.

The only reason a no fly zone would be imposed would be allowing anti assad forces and indeed the likes of ISIS to flourish and make advances in Syria wihout being attacked by government forces from the air.

If you think this is about the Syrian people or stopping ISIS think again. There were plans in place as far back as Bush's time in office to bring this about. The end game is regime change in Syria and a strangle hold over the Middle East in general.

Spot on, they have been softening us up for this here in the UK too for some time. Now the latest thing they are pushing is for aid drops in Aleppo but have a feeling this is just a round about way of edging our way to the same end game.

I heard today that the Syrian army have taken a large part of East Aleppo back and liberated those held there by the rebels.

I would think their is a possibility the reason for the no fly is the continued use of gas attacks via barrel bombs being dropped from the air in addition to the intentional targeting of civilian infrastructure, like Hospitals, by Syrian and Russian forces.

They begged the Russians directly (Moscow talks) to stop supporting the Syrian Army by bombing the western backed insurgents, they then appealed to the UN Security Council to enact a 'no fly' resolution asking for the same thing. They tried cease fires, aid convoys, peace proposals, blah blah. None of it worked.

Now they are talking the next step...

(1) assesses the potential effectiveness, risks, and operational requirements of the establishment and maintenance of a no-fly zone over part or all of Syria,

They are just going to declare no fly zones anyway. This won't be a country wide no fly zone, just the 'hotspots'. Mostly over current insurgent operations, hired mercenaries fighting the Syrian army directly. It is also doomed to fail for ultimately the Russians are just as capable regardless of whatever paper 'resolution' the US government threatens them with.

The reduction of Syria like all the rest ins't going according to NATO's plan, Buwah...

NATO is just pissed Russian air elements have been providing direct effective ground support for Syrian military operations.

The Russians are helping the Syrians drive out the terrorists. Poor NATO, it needs Russia to stop doing such a good job.

Please Russia, just go away.

I read you loud and clear.

Always defending the ongoing campaign to subjugate Syria, like all the rest. The rest is pure deflection from that ultimate goal.

NATO is not involved in Syria... You really should learn the difference and stop trying to invoke false information about NATO into the discussion.

Well that is what we are repeatedly told is the reason but I doubt that it's about the civilians at all going on what's gone by before.

Excuse me, the accepted term is "Coalition Forces". Every time you deflect away from NATO (EU and US) combined military and covert support of Insurgency to topple Assad, you just make it more obvious, not less.
