All the recent discussion of fake news and this story is plastered all over MSM with so many lapping it up. It's called sowing dissent. It's a tactic as old as politics itself.

I live in pa since they are wanting to recount pa I figured that since I live in the greater central pa area including Harrisburg Lancaster Lebanon reading and Hershey it matters. Not to many Hillary folks around here that I know of. I didn't vote for either trump or Hillary so I don't have an opinion either way

Funny how quickly they need to eliminate a system now that I didn't work out for them, but 8 years ago it was "the will of the people" true democracy and all that crap..... Yup, Lotta butt-hurt snowflakes these days....

Folks still can't believe trump won. The media and Hillary and her supporters were just soooooo sure she would win. she did not win. Some of her own party were against her. Doesn't matter what I wanted. She lost. Time to get on down the road. Let's see what trump can and can't do. I for one am not worried.

I understand. She won the popular vote. She lost the pledged electoral votes. Electoral votes have not even happened yet, but I doubt enough will be 'faithless' who are Trump electors.

You are trying to imply it is all over.

The fact is, there are normal processes, like recounts, that happen. He hasn't even taken office yet. Let the processes happen.

What processes?

This thread is about recounts. And in the 3 states Stein is talking about, *none* of the conditions have been met for an automatic recount, so there is no "process".

BTW - Michigan only today did a final certification of their state's vote. Trump by a little over 10,000. Closest presidential race in the states history. And yet, it *still* does not meet the threshold for a recount.

Wake up people...

They can judge shop until they get one who will hear the suit.

Yes they can. It is a legal right.

Really?

Source asserting said legal right?

If they do a recount and find that the results were tampered with by being hacked are the Trumpkins still going to be opposed to it.

I have no expectations that the final results of the election will change, but if the system has been manipulated in such a way we need to know.

Hacked?

Well, one of the states Stein wants to contest is MI.

MI uses paper ballots.

How does one hack a paper ballot? I must have been absent that day from my black hat hacking class....

1. What is her endgame? Surely she knows she won't even hit the 5%.

2. Why would she require donations? She won't be counting the ballots herself.

UMM, voting integrity in the contested states? It will cost money to publicize this, lobby for it, it won;t be enough for people to just say , " Possibly we should recount these votes."

If nothing is wrong, it will only legitimize Trump more. I have no idea why Trump supporters are whining. This is not uncommon.

However, Trump supporters whine about anything a Democrat wants to do, even if a common practice. Tthen they turn around and say the process in and of itself is whining.

Ummm....

Let's all lighten up a little.

Someone bought Jill I guess. Probably with Clinton Foundation funds put into a Swiss Bank Account. Wait, the US government is demanding Swiss Banks to disclose. Cayman Islands is the new in safe place to put the bribe money.

If stein doesn't want to help Clinton, why those three states, why not ALL states?

Very fishy imho.

This is funny stuff, and oh yeah it's never gonna happen.

It's not a case of a one State close race, three whole States would have to get flipped. If Trump lost Mich and Pennsylvania, he would still have 270 and win because Wisconsin has the fewest votes of the three at ten votes.

Trumps landslide victory is a done deal.

funny, you say others whine, but the losers are the only ones butt hurt into riots and eliminating an integral part of our election process....because they lost.....and are not happy with that.

So they whine and bitch.

Also lets recount CA.

ALL STATES

"butt hurt"- by the Gods, I hate that stupid phrase. This system is broken and there ain't no fixin it! We gotta start all over. Let get it RIGHT this time people. Total sovereignty of the individual who works in concert, peace and love with other sovereign individuals. Such cooperation will enable us to gain our birthright as members of a greater cosmic community. PEACE.

Stein said before the election that if she was forced to make a choice she'd vote for Trump.

What if this is a well orchestrated ploy to recount FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPOSING THE VOTE FRAUD SCHEMES. What if Stein is working with Trump people?

Notice how Obama and Hillary didn't take the bait.

And had Hillary been announced as winner on Nov. 8. Do you think there would be all this effort to determine whether or not the election had such integrity?

I think not. Anyone who suspected it might not have been fair would be laughed at and shone the door.

You mean they would be acting like you?

Yes! Good quote.

continuing on....

Counting the votes is very important. Accurate and free of tampering. Unfortunately with the hacking and accusations of "rigging" this past campaign season, it must be made clear to every voter that the system is trustworthy. The Green Party has election integrity as part of their platform:

"publicly-owned, open source voting equipment and deploy it across the nation to ensure high national standards, performance, transparency and accountability; use verifiable paper ballots; and institute mandatory automatic random precinct recounts to ensure a high level of accuracy in election results."

As Stein's site says, "Our effort to recount votes in those states is not intended to help Hillary Clinton."

From Halderman's article

The only way to know whether a cyberattack changed the result is to closely examine the available physical evidence — paper ballots and voting equipment in critical states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, nobody is ever going to examine that evidence unless candidates in those states act now, in the next several days, to petition for recounts.

He is not saying that this has necessarily occurred, but that a recount of paper ballots is the way to check for cyberattacks/tampering.

the paper creates a record of the vote that can’t be later modified by any bugs, misconfiguration, or malicious software that might have infected the machines.
Whether or not a machine is on the internet doesn't matter.

Even optical scanners are not error/tamper free

“There are still plenty of computers involved” even without digital touch screens, says Appel. “Even with optical scan voting, it’s not just the voting machines themselves—it’s the desktop and laptop computers that election officials use to prepare the ballots, prepare the electronic files from the OpScan machines, panel voter registration, electronic poll books. And the computers that aggregate the results together from all of the optical scans.”

“If any of those get hacked, it could could significantly disrupt the election.”

Well if that's the case, then we should have a national recount and re-do ... I mean recount every single state. After all, election integrity is very important and we would hate for one ballot to go uncounted in any state, not just the three everyone thought would go for Hillary and didn't.
