FBI Obtains Warrant to Search Huma Emails

In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton's personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony.

Letter from Comey to Congress

And from Lynch herself:

"Late this afternoon, I met with FBI Director James Comey and career prosecutors and agents who conducted the investigation of Secretary Hillary Clinton's use of a personal email system during her time as secretary of state," Lynch said in a statement.

"I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation," she said.

Did you think that Comey was the only one with access to the laptop? I'm pretty sure he has not even seen the actual device, only the reports from the investigators.

I'm sure that Congress (both sides) have been contacting Comey for information.
I'm also sure that Comey would only reveal what he can legally reveal to them.

And? That's the point, some might say Comey himself is breaking the law by making any disclosure at all, if this investigation is ongoing. Some might say that Comey is preempting a possible leak from his agency, but even if he was, he may still be breaking 'the law'
It's like everybody involved has the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head, with a need to feck about regardless, or they too are doomed, such is the mire.

He's not breaking any laws. Nobody ever said he broke any laws. The DOJ does not like what he did but no laws were broken.

I beg to differ, the letter he sent to congress could be seen as a political jesture, bearing in mind that it was supposed to be confidential and would break the Hatch act for federal employees, not withstanding that the letter/memo itself was a leak. Comey was not legally bound to tell them anything about an ongoing investigation, any given obligation was of his own volition as he saw it, and he probably should not have done that anyway.
It also shows that Gowdy is wrong as per the video over Comey's actions, or at least should be challenged, since he didn't mention anything about the possiblity of Comey doing anything illegal, and supported him, but then that was obviously a Foxnews media set piece anyway, except that Gowdy said more than he should have. Yawn.

Comey explained exactly why he notified Congress.
The change was a change in the case status as he reported in his testimony.
If he had not notified them, he could have been held in contempt of Congress, and likely would have been accused of withholding critical information that needed to be known before the election.
He left it up to Congress, and THEY notified the public.

Mr. Gowdy is Ex F.B.I. . He still has Friends in the Bureau . I would also surmise he Knows who is Privy to the Information Mr. Comey is presently Investigating , and are the Agents who are Very Upset with Director Comey's handling of this Case . He is Waiting for Comey to do " The Right Thing " , or suffer the Consequences .

I'll have to go back and re-listen to that. I thought he said he had worked with many FBI agents (he was a prosecutor) and knew many, but I don't remember him saying he had ever worked for the bureau.

That's just another part of the mess, something the DOJ needs to look at to make things clearer, nothing to do with any elections per se.
Comey's job is to investigate and present to the DOJ, not speculate. However the e-mail investigation continues, it was never closed, and that is his job as a federal employee. What he gave to the congress commmittee, was a change of what he feels is status as opposed to what he said in July, in other words it's another story, which may or may not relate to the Clinton server, the source of the original charges, which were dropped. However he does not actually say that, probably why everybody is in a tizzy now, the thing being, what's different about it now versus before?
While he himself says he hasn't seen anything.

Really, really smart folks in their intel division and they do *not* bow to pressure.

I would not be surprised if it is their involvement in this whole Hillary mess that made Comey do what he did re: letter to Congress.

They answer to no one other than their PC (Police Commissioner) - Tom Selleck...just kidding, but the commissioner part is true.

And they do *not* screw around....and this I know personally as I grew up in NY and have many family members on the job as well as members of FDNY.

Screw with them at your peril....you will lose.
