What does God look like?

What is God's appearance? I am talking about the creator God of Genesis, YHVH or El Elyon. Most depictions appear to show him as an old man with a beard sitting on the clouds. I am wondering how accurate such a depiction is. Is there anything written which gives a description of God's appearance?

A lot like Santa meets the Easter Bunny. It's weird.

We are said to be made in his image so I'm guessing he resembles an ape?

John observes that "no man has ever seen God" (John ch1 v18). In fact it would be impossible for any human to take in the full reality of the Biblical God.
When people in the Bible "see God", the most they get is an image accomodating itself to their understanding, in order to give them a sense of "being in the presence of God". It is a kind of filter. That is why the Biblical visions vary so much.

A little trivia here. Michelangelo depicted god as just being in your head. Cleverly disguised to avoid being executed as a heretic. Do you see it?

Jesus, the Son of God, did not even describe God's Kingdom, only how it operated. We will not know what God the Father looks like until we are glorified, and presentable to Him. Our carnal minds in carnal bodies in this fallen world cannot do it - we would be destroyed if we tried. Remember what God said to Moses when Moses asked to see Him.

Really? Like spontaneously combust? I can try to imagine god pretty hard and nothing happens. Would god suddenly notice if someone was trying to see him and strike them dead? Or would you just blow up from the effort?

My earlier post was in jest. For God to be all knowing God must first experience. We are part off that experience. Therefore God is us, we are God.

An old white man, the typical icon of patriarchy and white privilege. Maybe he's actually a female Indonesian dwarf. Just saying.

All humans are sinners, that includes me. Isn't a sinner allowed to warn or are only holy people allowed to warn?
