Been a Civ player since Civ 3 and still hold a fondness for Civ 4 which for me was probably the best Civ game .... until now.
Civilization VI arrived into my life on Friday and so far I've sunk about 20 hours into it , it's awesome , from the new engine which significantly cuts loading time into a game to the layers of strategy that have been woven in like the city districts and government systems the game hasn't failed to impress.

There are so many changes that the game feels fresh and new yet if you're a Civ player you'll know what you're doing from the off , this is the Civilization the series has been leading up to and from a long time Civ player it's breathed new life into a game that was becoming a bit samey.

Firaxis have failed to impress recently but Civilization VI is a return to form.

I"m Looking forward to trying it out, I'm skeptical about having workers expire, but I think allowing for at least some limited stacking of units is great.

So was I , the plus side is it only takes them one turn to build a structure , 3 uses and they're gone.

I'm coming round to it now though , it forces more strategic decision on how and where you use them.

Has it been dumbed down like Civ 5 was to Civ 4?

No dunning down , it's more intelligent with more layers of strategy to mess around with , there is definitely more depth here.

It reminds me of a childhood of problems from playing too much Civilization. Are you playing the game, or is the game playing you? If the game is playing you, its a problem!

That is good to hear.

The crappy mobile game like garphics had me scepitcal plus there was rumours they gutted the tec tree for a "faster" pased game.

I heard they just split it out into two things: "hard" tech and "soft" tech. One side lets you build things that are more dependent on mechanical advance while the other is more social/civic advance.

That being said, I haven't gotten my copy yet. Budget being what it is, husband is still dancing around the topic of whether or not I can go get mine. He may not give the hard affirmative until payday, but I am chomping at the bit.

Iv loved every Civ game since they 1st came out. Really looking forward to getting the new one. I still miss splaying games like "Tyrants", "Utopia",etc. One game I'm really looking forward to as well is XCOM. I remember playing the original one on PlayStation 1. Not to drift but all those games and the original Diablo for PS1 as well.

Been having a blast soo far, but only had time to play 1/8th of 1 game..busy weekend, but hopefully will have a nice long game tonight.

Oh...and barbarians...one complaint soo far...been dealing with barbarian hoards...freaking barbarian horseback legions with rams and slingers flanking them, etc early game. gonna have to see if there is tweaks in options to make it slightly more realistic

I have never gotten around to this series of games. I take it this one can be started at 6 with no previous experience right?

Will try them/it for sure.

From what I've played so far this is a best Civ I've played , I've reached the Industrial era without much problem but am gearing up for war with Spain ... I'm playing as England.

Both of the XCom reboots are well worth a play.

The system requirements don't look too bad either being it just came out. I am still running a 750 ti but this should work fine.
