The JUDGE in the case commuted the sentence from FIVE years to one and gave Taylor credit for time served.

At least tell the whole tale while you're dragging this kid's story through the dirt to make political hay.

This is a CNN report about the extensive lengths a 27 yr old Hillary Rodham went to in order to win this case --- She knew full well what she was doing. All that mattered to her was winning the case. IN fact she laughed about th efailure of the prosecuter when he had plenty of evidence to convict. She was just oh so clever to outfox justice.

Hillary Clinton didn't "put her through a lot at 12 years old" ... she went through a lot because she was raped by a 42 year old man.

She was made to identify her attacker because, well, that's the law. (The laws in place to protect child victims were not in place in 1975.)

She quite simply (and understandably) doesn't realize what really happened to her in 1975.

Ms. Shelton, quite obviously, has been through a lot since then.

In 2008 she was interviewed by Newsday (during Clinton's first campaign for President) and she stated at that time (while in jail) that she had no ill will toward Clinton.

This video (produced after the Daily Mail hunted her down) is nothing more than the most vile use of someone who obviously was SERIOUSLY damaged by what happened to her as a young girl.

Clinton didn't destroy evidence.

Clinton didn't demand a plea deal.

Clinton didn't commute the rapist's sentence.

... and next year, everyone will go back to not even knowing who Kathy Shelton is ... after she's no longer politically "useful."

Peace to you Brother/Sister -- no need to turn this in to a vitriolic attack on me personally - I mention my own position to explain that I don't have a horse in this game. Referencing a piece from CNN (who, of course tends to support Clinton these days) was to demonstrate that this is not just a smear job (there are plenty of other sources of background on her early law career)-- sure Hillary Rodham didn't want to take the case, but when she knew she had to, she decided to go to great lengths in order to WIN. A public defender should do her best to see that her client is given a fair trial. My point is that she knew the man was guilty and beyond defending him, she actually chose to attack the victim ( a 12 year old child)--- and that is where she lied.

I just got censored on ATS which is highly unusual, but I never read the warning I just responded to a post several pages back, so I am going to restate in more generic terms something that needs to be said in this thread.

When you watch the video I posted, and still say Hillary never had a part in harming that girl, then it is cognitive dissonance. It is apparent that for political reasons a person chooses to ignore that womans feelings and testimony, and justify something Hillary did.
But more troubling is that it speaks to a general pattern of her entire life, and that point can be argued and will continue to be until the election happens.

Both sides continue to justify the very bad behavior of their candidates this election cycle.

Indeed many people like Kathy do certainly get their lives crushed in the American political machine. And not just back in 1975 when she was raped by a 42 year old man (and a 15 year old boy, but we won't go into that because that doesn't serve the political agenda) at which time there was probably zero possibility of any mental health counseling for her. It's quite likely, although there is no real record of it that I can find online, that authorities probably believed, as some do today, that she "brought it on herself." She doesn't mention that, although she does mention in several interviews all the horrible questions that people kept on asking her ... police, doctors, psychologists, etc.

Now, at 54 years of age and a very hard life of drug abuse and prison time, and evidently after the Daily Mail found her again after the last time she was "politically useful" in 2008 (when she didn't have anything bad to say about Clinton) she now thinks that HIllary Clinton did all of that to her. The trial was Hillary's fault, the fact that she had to look into a window and identify the men who did this to her ... that's Hillary's' fault.

And all of us feel for her when she tells this story. It's fairly obvious she has a lot of problems, issues, etc. If she had been born in a different time, perhaps she would have been able to get free mental health counseling to help her deal with it.

As it was, at the time, her mother, who had let her 12 year old daughter get into a truck in the middle of the night with two grown men and a 15 year old boy, had just broken up with her then current relationship, and demanded that a plea bargain be accepted so that she wouldn't have to be embarrassed by testifying in court.

Hillary Clinton didn't want this case. She asked to be excused. The judge (who also commuted a 5 year sentence down to TIME SERVED) would not let her do so.

You guys can keep grinding the axes and lighting the torches for Hillary Clinton in this, but I hope, in some corner of your mind, you realize that it's not Clinton's fault that Kathy was raped, that her mother pushed for a plea deal, or that the judge decided that a man who had raped a little girl had suffered enough for it in the two months he had been in prison.

But you're doing nothing more than winding the gears of that political machine that gobbles lives like Kathy's up and spits them out. And next year, or problably, after November 9th, I wonder how many of you will try to keep up with Kathy Shelton?

I wonder how many of you will get out and work for women's and children's rights and against abuse whether sexual or any other sort.

She is NOT laughing about "getting a rapist off" ... because she didn't. He pled GUILTY.

The mother of the raped child demanded the plea bargain be accepted.

The judge let him off for two months served.

And everyone forgot about Kathy Shelton ... just like they'll forget about her in a few months.

The "disorganized families" are obviously just ordinary poor people with maybe a dash of single-mother household thrown in for good measure. And the 12-year-old girl is "stubborn" and has a "temper." Really? Is that a problem in girls?
