Clinton Touts National Service Agenda

Now this strikes me as odd. Some kind of civilian localized force backed by the US government just doesn't sit well.

Clinton also announced plans for a new “National Service Reserve” that would allow people to serve their communities without a full-time commitment.

“Here’s the idea,” the candidate explained. “If you join the reserve, you’ll receive some basic training. And when your city or state needs you, you’ll get the call.”

Clinton said her goal is for 5 million people, particularly those under age 30, in all 50 states to participate in this program. She didn't say how she would pay for any of her plans.

Do we have a National Guard? Yes
Will this cost the government money? Yes
Will these people work for money? No

We have the National Guard for military and security operations. Why would you need to give 5 million civilians military basic training? "Civil Service"?? I'm not buying it.

With the MANY infrastructural problems we face right now, how about skipping the basic training and give folks apprenticeships and jobs to address the problems?

She's going in the wrong direction as usual. UNLESS, this being a conspiracy site and all, she wants to create 5 million trained loyalists to her and the state. I don't put ANYTHING past this chick.

Because that would be investing in the middle class. Private companies would have to bid on the job and you would still need to keep political favors out of the way.
