Remember when we were told tasers wouldn't be misused? That they were simply a new and less lethal tool for law enforcement? But really, they kind of turned into a new way to threaten?

I honestly think we should take every tool away from the cops except the gun. Tell the cops: If a perp doesn't comply, do what you have to do. Then ... there isn't any question about what is going to happen. The important part is that neither the cop nor the perp has a question about what's about to happen in their minds ... and the perp decides if he wants to live or die ... right there.

ah. The govt. Does have "phasers." and, they can be set for stun or kill.

There is a thing called a PEP. Pulsed energy projectile. Initially called a PIKL pulsed inductive kill laser.

Its basically an infrared laser. That when fired at a person the first half of the laser pulse will ablate the skin surface of the person.

This creates a plasma cloud in contact with the individual at the laser impact sight.

The Later half of the laser pulse runs into this plasma cloud dumping its energy into it.

Now heres the neat part. The plasma will absorbe the energy pulse of the laser, but not all of its frequencies at the same rate of time. Ie. Some frequencies of the pulse will get absorbed easier and faster and other parts harder and slower into this plasma cloud. This phenomena occuring makes the plasma something called a Non Linear Medium. Its important to understand that.

When the plasma is acting as a non linear medium it essentially converts the energies that are absorbed at different rates into other forms of energy. That could be heat. Sound. Light. Electro magnetic pulses. Radio waves microwaves... You name it.

If you experimented enough...and the military has...you dial it in to the right energy signatures so that a powerful EM pulse cascades through the target stunning them. Or you can set the dial so that the energy signature when it interacts with the plasma converts to intense heat immoliating or vaporizing the subject.

Heck maybe certain radio waves do something. Or various EM frequencies. Maybe converting the energy into phonons making infrasound can do neato things.

It slices it dices it make julianne fries.

So this PEP hits a subject. The plasma bloom occures on contact. The rest of the beam dumps into the plasma. The plasma acts as a non linear medium and converts energy into other forms of energy. The energy can be converted to another form of energy that you desire so that depending on how you shape the energies signature. Presto! Phaser for all intensive purposes that can be set to multiple settings for various effects.

Fun part. The technology isnt limited to hitting people with lasers. If you converge multiple infrared lasers of a similar set up you can create a plasma cloud in the air. It Looks like a glowing ball of light. Sound familiar? Size depends on your power levels. Can make softball sized to aircraft sized.

Now all you have to do is hit that plasma bloom with a extra laser thats tuned the way you want it and create the same above effects to youre whim....more or less. Useful for spoofing incoming missiles or radars if youre an aircraft. Yes some have these rigs for defense and limited offense.

Perfect for creating relays for EM signals like communications and relaying data when and where you need them.

Perfect for broadcasting radio frequencies... Or infra sound.

Maybe a roving tazer ball to keep out intruders or hunt subjects down.

Ever wonder why some abductees or ufo witnesses say they experience a flashbulb explode in their mind and are paralyzed or stunned. Or flashes of light or lasers that zap them or stun them. They are getting hit with a PEP weapon.

But wait ders more!!! You can use a special kinda laser called a phase conjugate laser. A specific phase conjugate laser called a soliton beam. Soliton beams make the plasma cloud into a plasma bubble. The walls of the bubble act as mirrors or reflectors for certain Electro Magnetic Frequencies. Other pass through or convert to other energy forms. But the desired ones if youve dialed it right will basically resonate inside the bubble making it an EM resonant cavity. Usefull for Cavity Quantum Electro Dynamic applications.. which leads to a whole lotta exotic stuff ill save for another time. But it has to do with quantum optical squeezing, "dark" solitons and signals mixing. Macroscopic "casimir like" effects on objects inside said bubble.

It leads to some um.....interesting stuff.

There's also a 'sonic bullet' thing that the Rooskies came up with, and we diddled with for a few years.

It was sort of big and unwieldy, and the issue was that it WASN'T very lethal, you could occasionally get a broken bone from it, but generally it just knocked you on your butt with the wind out, which wasn't what they were after.

It is astounding that so many people seem to accept that the only solution is a bullet.

i don't know how tasers work now but the one i played with a few years ago had 2 shots then you had to replace the cartridge so yes they could make money still. i like being able to carry a fire arm but i don't generally do it. i have found very few situations i can't stop with words and the ones i couldn't my fists have been more than ample i have never needed to use a firearm but you never know.

Nice thought. But think about it. Mostly everyone will miss with their first shot in a stress shooting. Now what do you do? You may die. Here's why. When you put that clown nose on your weapon, you're mindset is that I am taking less than lethal action to de-escalate the risk. The other person only knows you pulled a gun and you fired it. They hear the shot and aren't hit. They are now thinking that they better get to you before you shoot again, or they may run away. If they do decide to continue the assault against you, you will have to fire many more times to stop the threat. And if you don't, you have a good chance of being injured or killed.
