I've learned to ignore many of your posts for very good reason: Your use of ridicule - not necessarily of the member but of public figures or information being posted by the member, who obviously finds the public figure or the information to be credible. So, in a sense, you're ridiculing the member indirectly.

I don't believe I said anything about me personally being attacked.

Do you care to find the quote you're talking about and post it?

Astyanax
And the basis for your opinion?

ConnectDots
My intuition

So that’s ‘the science establishing the existence of the Life Force’? Your intuition?

Pah.

Yes, we know. Too dangerous to respond.

Thanks for the entertainment. Not that it was very entertaining, but for a slow day...

Intuition
The ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning

Intuition is a real ability to varying degrees

So why personal attacks by demeaning this gift
Surely the question should be
"What has your intuition shown you
that makes you believe the existence of Soul will be proved
by science at a future date"

But all I see is the idea of intuition being poo pood
Perhaps science should investigate this gift
Perhaps it already has I don't know

But I do know from personal experience that intuition is a real thing
I could give examples and you could call me a liar
But I know it exists and that is enough

But my point is not about intuition but closed minded attitudes that merely wish to argue rather than discuss

You know who you are

...you find stepping outside the echo chamber a daunting prospect?

That's real neat and all that, but there's the Skunkworks forum for that sort of baseless speculation.

Don’t be silly. Nobody is attacking or demeaning intuition.

The OP claimed they had scientific evidence, then said ‘my intuition’ when asked what it is.

Intuition is not evidence. And please note that the dot connector is not even presenting evidence he or she inuits to be true. Their claim is vapour. The discussion is over, because there is nothing to discuss.

Any "science" where you can't measure the thing you claim to exist is not science at all. Thus any appeal to "putative" or "subtle" energy is de facto bull crap.

"The Science Establishing the Existence of a Life Force"

Note the word establishing as oppossed to established

The title alone suggest an ongoing investigation who's outcome is not final.

The basis of science is observation and ideas then experiment etc
The result of Yes or No or something OTHER regarding the idea is the quest

This is ongoing research which has NOT stated "The Soul exists" NOR has it stated "The Soul does not exist"

Connectthedots stated he "believed" the soul will be proven to exist because his intuition informed it so

Again there is no conclusive proof either way ...

What do you think happens to the self awareness which makes you you and I I upon death

I can only speak for myself, although i have a feeling astyanax will agree with me, but i believe that the self awareness just shuts off, like everything elision the body. Nothing magical, nothing religious, nothing supernatural.

Yes but science does not have all the answers or all the tools
There will no doubt be discovery's in the future which will answer questions we have not yet thought of

of course it doesnt. Yet, but we are working on getting answers. And the thing is that science has provided all the answers thus far. And given us all the tools we need and use every day. And science evolves and grows and changes. Science all the way my friend...

Yes of course ... I am not knocking science that would be dumb
Just making an observation that ideas come before scientific proof/investigation

Not meaning to be nit picky but I feel it is important point to make

Science has provided proof to the questions it has investigated
But Science has not provided all the answers,
By which I mean that intuition and ideas outside the confines of science have yet to be answered Yes or No

I do get what you meant but feel this point needs stressing
Beliefs are what they are some are crazy some are reasonable
Some have been validated some have not

I think the idea of The Soul is reasonable and worthy of future investigation when science has the tools

Yet, saying "I have posited the existence of unicorn poot force, which cannot be detected or measured, but which I will call 'subtle' as a misnomer for 'non-existent' in order to fool a bunch of people with some money to spend" is not, in fact, science.

If you can't measure it, it's not real. At least according to science. How could you know if you had detected it? You can't measure it. How do you know that any experiment you purport to do has affected it? You can't measure it. It's bullcrap.

Mind you, it's bullcrap with candy frosting, but still bullcrap.

Many things which established science deemed non existant were discoverd to exist
It took brave and hard working scientists that percevered to find proof of such things

Dark Matter and Energy
Quantum Mechanics
DNA

I am no scientist as you are my friend so if you would care to keep it at a science for dummies level (which you most often do) I would appreciate it

Observed results/effects are science and not "bull crap," as you say.

Then where are the empirical results for your claims, then?
