Since joining ATS and following the tweets and scanner traffic, it's surprising how much more valuable info you can get then the typical MSM.

Holy %^# crap --the 2 wsoc tv reporters were there when the guy DT was killed; the camera guy was ex EMT; both are male white; EMT dude went into crowd to render assistance & first aid as a trained medic & crowd got so ugly and physical that he was forced to retreat. He knew the shot was mortal. The cops did not even know someone was shot--the reporters had to tell them

I was thinking about this compared to the LA Riots or even Ferguson. Whereas LA was completely spontaneous and the beginning of Ferguson too, with so many of these other, more recent ones, each one seems more and more orchestrated. Mostly at night, lead by professional agitators, organized media waiting with baited breathe, people live tweeting, the internet following along. It's sick.

For sure, these days there's a real shameless sort of voyeurism with all the live stream coverage and Internet spectators. Lots of people hoping for some big meltdown they can enjoy from the safety of their TVs or computer screens.

The people protesting certainly know they've got an audience and duly make their performances. I wonder how little traction these things would gain if no one was watching or no one cared enough to.

Social Media/YouTube era protests, equal parts fascinating and disappointing. So much acting, stage performance and posturing, so few genuine ideals. What happens when a mostly placid ruck of ordinary people realize they've got a rapt national audience.

and some people have love ones that have to work nights in this bull^$#@ and are very grateful for the coverage so they can plan alternate routes/ and or cancel activities, knowing at this stage violence would happen anyways, cameras be damned -- remember riots happened long before the relative new appearance of cell phones in our collective social consciousness
