Oh hell no!! More like calling in a political favor. Shut this %$# down now.
Just that there will be very little leeway given to allow mayhem & destruction. Too much $$$ at stake.

I agree, but you won't see that happen. Too much money changing hands and yet to be made.

It is. I wonder if we'll ever know the circumstances. I wonder if the protesters will know/care.

Well if it's like politics, only the politicians will win.

This is almost like watching wild animals any more. These people have no concept of "peaceful" protesting, it's always rioting in short order.

Holy %^# crap --the 2 wsoc tv reporters were there when the guy DT was killed; the camera guy was ex EMT; both are male white; EMT dude went into crowd to render assistance & first aid as a trained medic & crowd got so ugly and physical that he was forced to retreat.

Yanno what?

If that's the way these retards want to play, let them die. Stupid is as stupid does, it's all their own blood on their own hands from here out.

The people protesting certainly know they've got an audience and duly make their performances. I wonder how little traction these things would gain if no one was watching or no one cared enough to.

and some people have love ones that have to work nights in this bull^$#@ and are very grateful for the coverage so they can plan alternate routes/ and or cancel activities, knowing at this stage violence would happen anyways, cameras be damned -- remember riots happened long before the relative new appearance of cell phones in our collective social consciousness

Nah I appreciate people covering it, don't mistake me. I follow threads here whenever something like this happens, it's better than watching the news. I wasn't implying that those of you keeping us updated are somehow banking on a meltdown. Least of all those of you who live in the area.

What I'm learning from all these riots is that I need to have my go bag up to snuff. If it comes to my town, we are heading out and driving however far is necessary to get a suitable and affordable hotel until it calms down. This is crazy. I feel so bad for all the normal people who live in this area and are not part of this violence.

Judging by the unprecedented (in our little local area anyway) reaction of those 2 reporters I mentioned earlier, one of which was a former EMT --if the poor guy isn't dead then he's most likely brain dead, just being kept on life support for organ retrieval. Gross I know -but seen it happen with friends in motorcycle wrecks unfortunately.

That's just it, there are no barriers. No repercussions. This is being allowed.

It's possible.

How far roughly are you from what's going on? Is it isolated to the DT area of Charlotte?

Frankly, I think they should have brought in the NG a long time ago. If people want to act feral at every turn, they should get treated as such. I'm all for fixing any lingering malignancies in race relations, but this shows there isn't much left for the bellyachers to scream about, thus they turn to mayhem. And will call it racism if anyone tries to reign it in.

Thank you so very much for that clarification!! Means more than you know! I really do not want to see friends who have to live and work in Charlotte see it crash and burn around their very ears!!!

My own thoughts on this is that it's by design. Set up a group of protesters and then demonize every action. In the future there may be a need for more important and immediate protesting. Immediate showing of force, especially form the US government would set a precedent for normalcy.

We can not have that.

About an hour out south; family grew up here; went to school in Charlotte; used to work in Charlotte

Seems to be contained tonight to DT area from what I've seen.

That's good at least.

Not being from there or familiar with the city, it's hard to tell with all the different camera angles. I use the scanner and look up streets on a map to get a general idea.
