I couldn't post this in Posse Comitatus so I decided to put it here. Mods please move if it doesn't fit in this forum.

A man in Charlotte N.C. - Keith Soctt - was shot and killed. Authorities said Scott was armed with a firearm and "posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers". Family members have come forward saying that Mr. Scott wasn't armed and the officers involved were not even in uniform.

In a video WBTV posted to Twitter, she said, "He didn't have no gun, he wasn't messing with nobody ... them jump out boys, them undercover detectives, they jumped out their truck. They said 'Hands up! He got a gun, he got a gun.' Pow pow pow pow. That's it."

Meanwhile protests have erupted in Charlotte.

This is the livestream for the protests.

Yes not good considering the recent Crutcher shooting and now this one. Trigger happy police need to slow down, take a breath and proceed. I understand the mistrust on both sides but there has to be a - for lack of a better term - happy medium. Terror, shootings, gas shortages, prime hurricane season and the divisiveness from the election. The rubber band is about to snap.

Your welcome for the link.

It sure is. But this incident doesn't have video to prove one way or the other does it? In this day and age, you need video, to give police brutality accusations some foundation. Otherwise, it's just one of hundreds of accusations that are made every year, and summarily dismissed by the courts.

of course. and they immediately said he had a weapon, but no weapon found yet, eye witnesses saying there was no weapon but what appeared to be a book. and its also the wrong person...

no video = no accountability = easy murder and no repercussions

So let me see if I get the jest of the protest. A black police officer shot a black man because he was racist?? Am I missing something or is there a lot of black people that hate black people???

I'm not sure if there was a video. I linked to an article that clear that up.

I was always taught there are three sides to every story. Your side, the other persons side and the truth.

They are throwing tear gas into the crowd now.

I think it is an officer thing.

Body cams and stripping the connection between county DA's and law enforcement would help confront a lot of this.

It's he said, she said, unless there's a body cam. Should be mandatory. And prosecuting the crooked and criminal cops would bear far more success if they weren't working hand in hand with their local DA's.

Crowd is gathered around someone now. Not sure if someone is hurt.

I work in emergency services in charlotte. Cops have body cams so there is video. I also already talked to someone who was there. Guy did have a gun and the police have it in evidence.

His daughter said he was shot because he was black. That means that she thinks racism is involved. So she's saying thr black police officer was a racist. That's what I'm trying to figure out how that works exactly. If the protest was say against police brutality that would be one thing but the protestors think he was shot because he was black. Doesn't make sense at all to me.

I became so disgusted watching the morons in Ferguson burn down their neighborhoods, I don't even watch the protests now.

But overall, police should be more restrained with using deadly force. They are endangering their officer colleagues in cities across the nation, when they severely hurt/kill an innocent person. We saw what happens in Dallas when one guy gets really angry over some incident that happened in another city/state.

I only know what was reported at the time of my posting. I have been watching the live feed which is previously recorded. I don't live in N.C. so there is no way for me to know what evidence has been gathered.

Thanks for the update.

Yes, I could not agree more! As I said earlier I can understand the mistrust on each side of the fence here.

I will withhold my opinion until I see the video. I want the truth - not what the officers say or what the witnesses say.

If everyone had to step into each others shoes for about a month maybe perspectives would change. Who knows!

I just know I am tired of seeing lives being lost on both sides because all of them are human.
