I wasn't duped, and I was only 14 years old.

Who are you?

Ahh moving the goals posts.

And maybe was duped like the rest of us

I'm someone you dragged into this.

You dragged you to snarky by yourself. Do you have proof you weren't fooled at the time?

I do, in my cupboard.

We wrote a paper in English class in school at the time about our views.

Found it last year. Wasn't a bad read.

I wasn't being snarky. I rebutted your assumption.

His statement was based on limited information and since he didn't hold any public office it didn't effect the outcome of anything. reply to: kruphix

From that link...

Now, BuzzFeed reports that Trump indicated his support for war in a radio interview with shock jock Howard Stern on Sept. 11, 2002 — a little more than six months before the war started.

Stern asked Trump directly if he supported going to war with Iraq, and Trump hesitantly responded, “Yeah, I guess so.”

Because it was political suicide to publicly say any different at the time. The pressure to go into Iraq was enormous. Who's going to stand against the Juggernaut?

In my cupboard, like I said.

What's with the 3rd degree?

I have no need to prove anything to you.
If you don't believe me that's fine. I'll lose no sleep.

Transcript from the video:
Stern: (who knows what was said before) like a sitting duck

Trump: But we have an idea who the enemy is and like a lot of times the politicians don't wanna tell you that.

Stern: Are you for invading Iraq

Trump: Yeah, I guess...sooooo. Um. You know I wish it were, I wish the first time it was done correctly.

OK maybe I am missing something here. First, he was NOT a politician then....he is calling them out. Just like he is doing now Second, that is NOT him calling for war! It is a private citizen who only has access to the same facts the rest of us had and we were PISSED. As Toby Keith said, we all wanted to put a boot in your ass
It`s the American way

So one weak comment makes him an Iraq war monger?

I think there was another video somewhere that had him taking a stronger position.

If somebody can find it?

Otherwise this looks more like a feeble attempt to support Hillary's Iraq pro-war stance.

It's sad I even have to create a thread about this topic. It is a very simple, cut and dry case.

The issue: Did Trump support the Iraq war?
Reality: Yes
Trump: No.

Trump isn't backing down, he is still trying to defend his position saying that he ALWAYS opposed the war in Iraq.

That's all well and good Mr. Trump...but we have these things called "recordings".

Here is Trump in 2002 on the Howard Stern show BEFORE the Iraq War.

I know I shouldn't be surprised that Trump supporters are trying to defend him on this...but I honestly am. I mean, it is right there...Trump's own words...he supported it.

So why is this even up for debate?
Trump says, I....guess...so....And then you cut him off...What else did he say???

How would that benefit the thread about Trump lying his arse off?

Anything else is derailment.

Like I said, you have no obligation to believe me.
Just like I have no reason to go rummaging through my wardrobes at 3 in the morning to look for my English book from secondary school just to satisfy your disbelief.

No the premise is Trump says he never supported the Iraq war, and he is a liar.

What you have made up is a Strawman argument.

Try to keep up.

The talk was there was a danger. Saddam had already spit in a sovereign nations face with Kuwait. He had muscled his way into a tiny country to gain a harbor. He was very bad to the small country. We knew he was bastard and we were all ready to believe anything about him. He had a bad reputation to start with. Chemical weapons, bio weapons, secret underground albeit was a justified move by our standards and even though NATO didn't believe the intelligence they okayed everything.

Not too long in every body knew it was a mistake but then we were committed to taking out Hussein and it seemed the world would be better without him in it. Sooooooo.

Yes. But hindsight makes us look stupid so we don't look back. Or we flat out deny it.

Labeling an argument can be called something but that doesn't make it so. In fact it was a valid point.

Strawman argument;
A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not advanced by that opponent.

The OP never said a word about Trump being an "Iraq warmonger".

I know exactly what a Strawman is, now so do you.

He can be forgiven . Every body flipped. He was never a leader just a follower. Of trends of the crowd. I remember that trump I'm a native New Yorker and eleven years younger than trump. He followed the crowd . Studio 54 for sure. He had to be seen. Heard noticed.

Trump says I guess so Hillary actually votes for it.

Who do you think had more information before making the vote too? If Trump had the same information as Hillary would he have voted for it too?(even though trump wasn't a politician) Most likely not because after he made the guess so statement in 2002 and im positive after he got more information on the iraq situation he went from I guess so to no iraq is a bad idea.

Edit, I'll add that over my post about Hillary vs Trump it may seem like I think Trump is a wonderful man in all areas but I do not believe he is. How ever I do believe he has better intentions for humanity then Hillary does. She's had years of opportunities as sos to make things better but has failed miserably so why not give Trump a try? In his own words what do you have to lose? (When you already know what Hillary will be like)

You can read. Good. Work on comprehension next. He came right out with what he wanted to say. That's not a strawman.
