Not sure why the EU is involved this was set up to avoid US taxes. All apples intellectual property is in the US. To avoid taxes they set up a shell company to handle foreign sales. Normally a company would have to send the money back to the patent holder or main company. in this case Apple inc has directly been avoiding US taxes Appleā€™s Irish principal company and its subparent make small annual payments to the U.S. parent for use of valuable intellectual property, while collecting vastly more than that amount in sales revenues from other Apple affiliates. In other words this non existent company receives money from all the other affiliates by selling them property rights they bough instead of having them purchase them directly from Apple inc subjecting them to US taxes.
