I have no problem with Mexicans and Central Americans who come here to get jobs and raise their kids...who escaped little ranchitos in deserts or gang-riddled states.....
I know dozens and dozens of them. I was, actually, a helper for them!! I went to their homes and apartments to help them learn to take care of their new babies. I took them to prenatal appointments, and helped them sign up for passports, and get food assistance for their infant children who are UNITED STATES CITIZENS. That was one job I had ---- and then I had to leave it because of workplace bullying. I cried when I said goodbye to those families.
Then I got a different job (corporate, not 501c3) and supervised a team of immigrants - mostly Mexican, many Central American (Guatemala, El Salvdor), and also African (Sudanese, Somalian, Jamaican, etc.
That was at a major US-based hotel chain (the name of the hotel chain starts with an H and ends with YATT).....and a many members of that staff were functionally illiterate, but were hard-working, gracious, respectful, articulate, clean, and kind people --- they had come here to escape the desolation and 3rd world poverty of their own native lands.....
they wanted only to earn some money to send home to their aging abuelitas....
sometimes the abuelitas would come to visit -- and they looked like "National Geographic" portraits. Wizened, creased, leathery and stooped....and as kind and nice as they could be.
That's what about illegal immigrants and their children. They WANT vaccinations - they ASK for help choosing healthy foods, and learning how to take care of babies....they SIGN UP for the help that I gave.
It was offered for free to any new parent who wanted it. First three years of the baby's life - we were there, a phone call away, to help. I will NEVER EVER apologize for the work I did with those people. And at the hotel? I defended those women when american guests sexually assaulted them, or accused them of thievery. I stood up for them when they needed lighter-duty because of a high-risk pregnancy. I advocated for them to be allowed to take bereavement leave when their sister-in-law died.
I loved them. I love them still.
They put many Americans to shame with their humility, work ethic, down-to-earth attitudes. They know how to cook, how to make do, and their homes are invariably SPOTLESS.
Thank God I didn't get the cases that were the trailer trash and toothless teens.....because I spoke Spanish, I got to go visit polite, eager parents who worked hard, followed ALL of the rules, paid taxes, had jobs, and appreciated the US.
Those people I care about.
Johnson said he believes vaccination policy should be handled at the local level.
“In my opinion, this is a local issue. If it ends up to be a federal issue, I would come down on the side of science and I would probably require that vaccine,” he said.
I don't care about your freedom to decide

Nope! I don't care when you are obviously incapable of making any sort of appropriate decision.
I worked for years (before the above stories) with kids ---- US kids whose home lives were such a mess that they (the kids) were unable to function in school settings.
So - I DO NOT CARE if you don't want your baby to get a shot. I DO NOT CARE if you think your baby's clitoris or foreskin needs to be amputated. Because those things are BARBARIC.
