Yes, I take free speech seriously and do not apologize for it.

And here apparently are the other 'damning things' you were objecting to, for the ease of people seeing this thread in the morning:

Targeted reforms include:
• Impartial electoral institutions and the elimination of partisan elected officials.
• Automatic registration with same-day party affiliation.
• Voter Rights Act legislation that protects each citizen’s right to participate unencumbered by excessive obstacles; and ensures that all citizens have equal and easy access to polling locations.
• Elimination of electronic voting machines and other low-security voting protocols.
• Universal hand counted paper ballots with secure chain of custody and transparent processing that is open to the public and the media.
• Increased scrutiny, security and transparency of vote by mail.
• Public financing of campaigns.
• Participatory civics included in the national curriculum.
• Third party debate and ballot access.
• Open primaries that allow independents to participate.
• Ending or transforming the Electoral College.
• Restoring voting rights to ex-felons nation-wide.
• Mandating issue-based election coverage on the networks.

With the exception of ex-felon voting which reasonable people could disagree on, I have no trouble with any of this... time for bed, will continue this on the morrow.

What the heck is wrong with demanding that the candidates discuss the issues?

Nothing wrong with demanding.

Huge, gigantic problem with forcing through state coercion.

Hey, not forcing anything. We demand it. We the people.
The media mandate things all the time. They have codes of conduct for us mere mortals. There is no reason to think they can't require candidates to adhere to a code of conduct if they wish to be heard. There are already rules for candidates that infringe on free speech. (If you take the taxpayers' money, you have to abide by the rules.)
We also have to demand that no taxpayer dollars go to political candidates or parties. Zero. These parties are out there raising literally billions of dollars and still reaching into our pockets?
Better yet---abolish political parties. Confiscate their billions and apply it to the national debt. THAT is the only way to "level the playing field."

There is nothing wrong with forcing the media to hold fast to the principle of speaking the truth, rather than spreading propaganda for either side.

Unless, of course, you have a problem with the truth, because it does not follow your ideals. If that is the case, your ideals are the ones at fault.

Targeted reforms include:
• Impartial electoral institutions and the elimination of partisan elected officials.

Who selects these non-partisan officials? Other "non-partisan" officials? Who decides if the officials doing the selection are non-partisan?

• Automatic registration with same-day party affiliation.

That is how Russia rigged the Crimean "referendum." Same day registration makes it difficult to verify identities, allowing the same voter to register multiple times in different districts.

• Voter Rights Act legislation that protects each citizen’s right to participate unencumbered by excessive obstacles; and ensures that all citizens have equal and easy access to polling locations.

"Excessive" is too vague to be enforceable.

• Elimination of electronic voting machines and other low-security voting protocols.

There was voter fraud long before there were machines.

• Universal hand counted paper ballots with secure chain of custody and transparent processing that is open to the public and the media.

If it is open to the public and media, it stops being secret and secure.

• Increased scrutiny, security and transparency of vote by mail.

Since there is no way of verifying the identity of the sender without imposing "excessive obstacles," it would be more effective to eliminate voting by mail.

• Public financing of campaigns.

That is an available option that few, if any, politicians take. Banning private funding, like it or not, has been declared unconstitutional. First Amendment.

• Participatory civics included in the national curriculum.

You mean force students to vote?

• Third party debate and ballot access.

We actually have that. The smaller parties just don't have enough money to buy air time, so they wind up under-served by the media.

• Open primaries that allow independents to participate.

This allows insurgents to manipulate the primary process, as former Democrat Donald Trump did to the the Republican party and Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders attempted to do to the Democrats. It would also allow partisans to sabotage the other party by cross voting for an unelectable candidate. (That may explain the current situation.)

• Ending or transforming the Electoral College.

Probably about time, but good luck getting Congress to actually amend the Constitution.

• Restoring voting rights to ex-felons nation-wide.

Not until the entire prison system is reformed first. You would either have a large sector of the electorate bent on wreaking revenge on the government they believe wronged them, or prison sentences will increase to prevent that.

• Mandating issue-based election coverage on the networks.

Again, there's that pesky First Amendment. Voters have the option of turning off the television, ignoring the echo chamber and doing their own research. In fact, that is our duty as citizens.

Bernie should replace Hillary right now.

I am glad that someone is monitoring these a-holes.

The corruption needs to end.

ABSOLUTELY INDEED.

However, it is likely scheduled to get worse, much worse.

At least, we have the net, so far.

We'd best be diligent and forceful to retain it as long as possible, however.

The criminal oligarchy is quite determined and very able to extend the tyranny well beyond what even Orwell et al foresaw.

If the screechy one gets injected again in the WH, all bets are off. She will likely engage in a scorched earth list of policies and strategies to silence all dissent. She has a very vengeful, fierce, horrific, retaliatory etc. personality and "character." No offense intended to the good term "character" using it in a sentence about her, BTW.

It is quite likely that her list of "curiously deceased" will mushroom to the many hundreds.

Folks simply do not understand the forces, powers, goals, strategies, methods that have been increasingly in place and increasingly implemented in increasingly horrific ways.

Most citizens are still terminally clueless, blindly biased, brainlessly out-to-lunch on issues, priorities, facts that will end up costing them more then their freedoms--in many cases their jobs, their homes and too often, their lives.

This is far MORE than "mere" voter fraud. This is part of a PATTERN of UNMITIGATED TREASON against the Constitution, against the Republic, against honorable citizens, against the planet, against the culture, against our foundational values, our way of life and our futures. It cannot be stated too strongly. Even the most extreme hyperbole will turn out to have been muted compared to the eventual reality. Hitler will eventually look like a wimpy also-ran compared to the screechy one and her crew of fellow stooges, and those who come after her . . .

Anyone failing to see the above is failing to see reality. They are already terminally trained to be compliant Eloi shuffling off to the caverns of the Morlachs for dinner--as the main course.

So you are voting for the lying, short fingered vulgarian? How would that be better? If you think Bernie is your man, vote for him. If enough people agree, he will win without Machine support. That's how democracy is supposed to work, remember?

Certainly the Blow Hard is far from an ideal candidate.

However, Bernie is so outrageously wholesale in the camp of the oligarchy, his only saving grace is that he's not deliberately sold his soul to the devil with such horrific resulting bone marrow evil character and intent spewing out every pore, like the screechy one.

Besides, who knows, there's some slight chance that the Blow Hard COULD upset the status quo enough that it would take them some time to cobble the treason back together.

Though, it is is more likely that he, too is a terrible oligarchy stooge on a somewhat mystifying assignment.

Although this isn't shocking it is irrelevant at this point. Sanders had an opportunity to stand on his platform and be counted as a true idealist yet he chose to forfeit that and bow to the throne.

All that can be said in light of this information now is that one fraud was outdone by a smarter fraud.

You miss the point. He doesn't want your vote, he wants it to go to Hillary. The reasons his supporters WOULD have voted for him no longer exist in their minds.

The vote will count. For example if the popular vote goes to Trump but the electorial vote goes to Clinton. the people have the right to over throw the electoral vote because their representatives in the electoral college did not represent the vote of their constituents but obviously for the all mighty dollar and power positions Clinton is waving in front of them.

The electoral vote was designed to represent the popular vote. When it doesn't it is rigged. when it does it is a true representation of the peoples popular vote.
