WHAT if the effort WAS NOT to spread a democracy but a REPUBLIC based on the American MODEL?
If Russia and China form a CoDominion pact?
If so THERE goes world war 3,to the trash bin.

I have no time for a system which does not focus on the people having at all times, more power than the state. For that to be the case, more democracy than has ever available in the US would be necessary.

The people must make all the choices, the people must be the government, not just by way of being represented in its chambers, but by being, collectively and in totality, the government itself, a nation where there is no difference between the people and the power, the people and the state, the people and the government, a nation, where all these things are one thing, where every person is the master of his or her own fate. There should be no power greater than theirs, only the power of the collective will of the people being adequate to make war on other nations, only the will of the people to be adequate to order the creation, operation or destruction of a surveillance state...

In essence, a fully distributed, centreless system of governance.

Anything else in a world where we can share a picture of what we had for lunch with near enough the entire world, but cannot be properly represented by our governments, seems like a bloody tyranny.

How is a republic superior to a democracy?

It's one of the "right's" favorite nitpicks: "It's not a democracy, it's a republic."

If republicanism (small "r") has gotten us to this pathetic point, should we really be lauding it as a superior form of governance regarding the protections of individual rights?

Why is it superior? I've heard the arguments but, in practice, the results suggest to me that both forms of governance are useless.

I dunno. Just ranting. Where's the evidence that republicanism is superior to direct democratic systems?

Or is it just a mantra?

Two wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat for lunch is "democracy." The average IQ is 100 and half the people have that or lower. Add one person at 101 and that's "democracy." Now add a bunch of religious zealots of all IQs, even high ones, into the mix and that's "democracy."

No sane person really wants to live in a "democracy."
