No, it looked pretty standard. It was an opportunity for them to TDY without going far, and practice their deployment plans. I have a couple pictures
that you can see it in, sort of. They were across the ramp though so it's pretty small. It did have Senior Span/Senior Spur mounted.
I took a few of the AF Thunderbirds when they were in Colorado Springs practicing for the AF Academy graduation...I should really edit those and share
them, lol.
Oh, got excited there for a second. Still awesom to see the U2s flying. Didnt you used to go out on the truck and help put the leg struts on the
landing U2s or something? I remember you saying something about that. I could be thinking of somebody else. Well if true, wonder if seeing the
U2s in action bring back memories for you?
I was out there when the pogos were attached on landing and dropped off on takeoff.
Sadly she didn't fly the day we were there. I think the winds were a little too much for her. It was windy as hell at times out there. And hell yes I
miss it.
I was at 16-3 media day and on the way in from the runway they drove us by the DOE hangar where they had just brought the U2 out. Our escort stopped
for a few minutes and let us watch, we couldn't take any pictures but she sure was beautiful.
I'd love to get out there for media day, just to get on the ramp again. But at the same time, the off base spots can shoot anything we want and get
some fun shots.
I've sent them two messages through two different channels..no response yet. If I don't hear back by this Friday I'm dumping all of them here and it
will include still photos and a video.
Hopefully you hear from them one way or another. They could still be trying to get a hold of the guy at the airforce who says yay or nay for these
sorta things. Id wait it out or simply not upload them as a courtesy to the air force until you get a definite answer.
