In my real life I am known as Heff to most people. "Heff" is the first four letters of my last name and my first name is John. As any other Johns in the room might attest... those of us named John usually end up with nicknames rather quickly so that everyone not named John can have a way of speaking to one of us without the other 93 Johns in the room saying "What? Me John?"

So true it hurts. Our name is so common it's what people call the freaking toilet.

I also belive its what the prostitute call the men, but on the not so bright side if you read Lady Chatterley's Lover it decribes some thing else JT

'stiver' was a completely made-up word. I just liked the resonance of s, t, i, v, e, and r put together. Only later I found it's an actual word meaning a small coin (English is not my language). "Okay - I thought to my self - This could be a reference to the saying "My two cents.." The only downside is that usually people mistake me for a male. But it stuck to me and I still like the sound of it. Probably this is how the first people made-up the words for the things.

Everything is going to fine, sh#t happens and there will be some successful conclusion for someone or something. I figured bobs_uruncle would be better than using my book's nom de plume as a shameless plug lol.

Somebody dared me! (It was myself!)

The End Of The World As We Know It

was already taken (it is ATS after all) so, because I like REM, I had add more, so on went the...

And I Feel Fine

And had I known that I would have to have typed that in every single time I login, I would have picked something shorter! No real meaning, just something easy to remember.

All, you can just use TEOT if you want (no need to type that all in!)

My car was stolen when I was 18 (a long time ago).
For some reason I created an email address using this name when I was much younger, and it stuck. Now it's my spam email account and throwaway username.

Well that was a little anti-climatic!

For some reason I've always had the mental image of Hefficide as a lethal Pachyderm?
Nope...no clue where that imagery comes from, but there it is!

Sublimecraft always pictured you as a writer, or the bestest name ever for a sy-fy book series?

Mine was just looking for something so "anti-me".
I am NOT a spelunker, only been in caves twice in a "nod" to hubby's interest and the jokes about "so....a hole in the ground? Really??!!" were rife.

Many years ago I had a colt called Blue.
I guess I fancied myself in a maternal role with him , and used this screen name.
He ended up being put down when he was only 7 years old, and it broke my heart. I just kept the name in his memory and because I like to keep it the same wherever I go. My activity on the web the past 20 years can be traced with this name, for better or worse.

When playing RPGs or other games, you can name your character. I always names my charchters after my dogs, Casey, and Boyd (he was a rescue with bad anxiety, and since I didn't know his real name, I named him Boyd because I thought it might sound like boy, as in "good boy". I ended up calling him Bo.

Anyway, when playing star wars knights of the old republic, I wanted a star wars sounding name so I named my character Bo Yeed. And it just stuck. Later when I got into online poker, I added the Bad portion,

It's my real name, hence easier to remember.

I'm not really afraid of being found. When I was working my name was all over the Web for a variety of reasons connected to my writing and speechifying. Now, not so much. I'm in more than one online Federal database with name and address (FCC and FAA.) But if I am EVER going to join the NWO Special Ops UFO Division I need to keep available, not that they'd ever have a hard time finding me. I tried waving a laser in the sky to direct them to the open field across the street, but that just got me in trouble with the FAA, so now I just sit around and wait, hang out on ATS, Slashdot, and the Corvette forum, doing little that is useful to anyone, including myself.

I have a thing about the angelic 'energies', especially the parking angel. Anyhow, I rather liked that Archangel Chemuel decided to visit 'downstairs' and then went back 'upstairs' and is therefore 'qualified' in both realms.....good with a bit of naughtyness

I'm a huge fan of the McLaren F1 team, have been since I was a kid in the 80's.
Their F1 cars are named MP4-31 and they change every year, so I decided to use mclarenmp4 as my username years ago and it has stuck.
