A good friend of the family tells a story of an orange circular UFO hovering above the trees, it followed her in her car then disappeared, when she pulled into her driveway, it was hovering above the trees in her backyard. Pennsylvania.

As soon as I saw that photo, it took me racing back in time 30 or so years ago when I saw an object similar at night time.

Naturally I too was flooded with "explanations" from anyone I talked to about it, and of course, I couldn't have really seen what I actually saw.

For me, it is not "well done ATS" decision made, police IR search beam.

All you have done is related the nearest thing in your defined knowledge of your surroundings, and totally excused the factors that do not fir your reasoning, like noise.

UFO is UFO, don't be so quick to identify the unidentified.

No, I'm not saying aliens, and anyhow, would such a supposed civilization be advanced enough to create the marvel we call infra red?

What I'm really sounding off about here is the speed by which supposed thinkers shoehorn something that merits further investigation into the trash can.

Coincidentally, my first thoughts were, they're back.

I agree with you. The OP said that the witness said there was no noise. So, that should rule out helicopter. The witness also said the light was a very bright white and she didn't want to step off the porch to look up. This tells me she actually saw the light in person and not on her cameras to be mistaking the infrared for a white light. Even though Infrared may cause the camera to do that, she still physically saw the light and the circle, which the second picture also shows.

Would be nice to see some more pictures, but I don't feel this is really "settled" yet. At least not to my satisfaction.

I have no ideas as to what it could've been that would be different from what has already been mentioned.

The fact that your friend states there was no sound makes it very strange and not easily identifiable obviously.

I find it interesting that the 'light' hovered for at least 4 minutes over her house and yard. What could the operator of the light been looking at or for?

I'm linking some accounts in Tennessee of odd sightings recently. I don't vouch for the reputations/validity of either site just posting for interest. It is difficult, IMO, to gauge similarities as folks tend to describe things with words/experiences that they are familiar with and that may not translate to someone else well.

Thanks for bringing something new to us and also, please, stay in touch and let us know if your friend is visited again or if there is talk about of anyone else in the area seeing something similar on that night or about that night.

Can you please post the original picture...it looks to me like this was a total zoom shot onto the object with a poor camera lens or by using computer.

Generally when you zoom in on an object, the object itself will be distorted...aka...pixels!

So from past videos...this "Orb" in the sky could be a Chinese lantern IMO.

Like check this vid:

I did a quick and dirty zoom in on the object in this video at 2:52 mins in...and here is the picture of the lantern using MS Paint zoom funtion:

That said other possible examples of a possible lantern:

I am in Middle/Eastern TN, and have noticed some odd activity in my night skies. Nothing that I can say "ufo" with a ton of conviction, but strange stuff that seems out of the ordinary.

I am also in a very secluded area, no street lights, no city lights to brighten the sky. On a clear night, it's all stars.

I have seen orange/red lights, but nothing that illuminates anything like that! That would terrify me!

No porch lights on, this was around 11 pm on the mountain top. Lit the yard in a circular pattern. She said it was so bright it turned everything white. On their security camera this lasted about 4 minutes.
Cool...Early sixties, Best friend and his dad along with another group were out Raccoon hunting about 2 am...No moon...Black as could be...All of a sudden they were all in this light...They said it was lighter than daylight...Lasted for a couple of minutes and then it was dark again...

Not long after the same thing happened at their farmhouse...The entire family was inside one night...All of a sudden their house was bathed in light...No matter which window they looked out, it was brighter than daylight...No one was brave enough to go outside to look for the source of the light...This was in Michigan...

Orange UFO's/orbs do seem to show up with some frequency in reports. But as said before, no way of telling what it is based on the photo, aside from an orange light

I am astounded at this photo, shared with me while visiting my best friend, in the state of Tennessee this Thursday. A young lady that lives in the mountains of eastern Tennessee took this picture, along with many others, she shared 2 of the photos. She didn't hear sounds, she saw this hovering over the trees, her father was on his way home and saw it as well. I want opinions on this one before I share the other picture.

Did the young lady photographer from Tennessee, mention if the orb looked like it was on fire?

Date of the sighting?

Did she report the UFO sighting to NUFORC?

I live in Columbus, Ohio. Not to far from were this ufo was spotted maybe a few hours AND I spotted the same exact looking ufo. ME, MYSELF. I recorded it and uploaded it to Youtube but did not get to many views. Which idc.

LINK: m.youtube.com...

NOW, after I finished the video something unexpected happened. It flew out into space at super high speed about 5-7 seconds after I ended ghr recording, looked like a shooting star but then agine it was unexpected . I was not aware that would happen as to why I did not capture it. But I kid you not it happened. No sound , constant speed the whole time. Looked very red and round . But was very very noticeable as to why I decided to record the thing.

This wasn't a Chinese lantern and I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was a unidentified flying object to me and unlike anything I had saw before or since

I've edited my previous post. The image from the security camera looks remarkably similar to ones I've seen on my own cameras, of a police helicopters' infrared search light. That would also explain the red tinge to the original, out ioffocus light in the sky image. If she actually saw the yard light up (probably in bright white light), and then it just "turned off" that was probably the spotlight on the helicopter.

So I'm still going with police heli. It's quite common here in Albuquerque...They fly around dark a lot, except for the tail lights and the occasional red glow from the infrared beam. And you don't hear them until they're almost on top of you..

Don't you think that she would hear a helicopter that was shining a spotlight into her yard for four minutes?

Hmmmm, my BS meter goes off when I read this reply.
I can hear the thump from APD choppers here in Rio Rancho when they are circling Cotton Wood Mall in ABQ!
Human vision usually stops at 680nm.

IR "red" is a very long wave from about 750nm. Professional IR Searchlights on aircraft are from 850nm to around 920nm, depending on compatibility with NV goggles and scopes. The IR searchlights on Albuquerque Police Department Are NOT Visible to the naked eye. Here is a link to an APD chopper video.

Ah, someone else local lol. You're absolutely right about the APS helicopters. I was actually referring to the new(ish) one that Rio Rancho has, I just figured most people here wouldn't have a clue where Rio Rancho is.

RRPD's chopper is fairly loud sometimes, but there's been more than one occasion where it's been only a few blocks from me and I couldn't hear a thing.

As to the infrared thing, again, you're right that it can't be seen. There's something on the bottom of it,, though, that I estimate is probably 2x2.5 feet, rectangular, that does flash red. It's not a single light, it's a well defined rectangular area. I know that heli has infrared, so I'm just assuming the two are linked somehow. I don't know that for a fact. I just know that most of the time, that red thing isn't visible, but at night, when they're circling an area looking for someone, it will occasionally come on and glow red for 5-6 seconds at a time.

Great to see some fresh and unique material here, thank you for your time and effort! I truly look forward to seeing additional material regarding this event.

My initial impression was that the object reminds me of the "craft" described by the persons involved in the "Allagash Abduction Incident"- perhaps it was a similar (or the same) type of technology described by the witnesses. I realize that some people doubt their story, what else is new when it comes to UFO claims, however, in my silly opinion, the Allagash incident is extremely credible and a fascinating story (if nothing else).

Here is a somewhat dated thread, although there are others: ATS LINK - Any thoughts on the Allagash Abductions?

But the video in your link was uploaded August 2015. If I read the OP correctly, her event happened last Thursday - 07/14/2016.

Anyway, it's too bad the friend couldn't have taken video with her phone or took many more pictures. Four minutes is a long time to be in fear and shock, there was plenty of time to recover and get as much evidence as possible.

Oh well, good mystery anyway.
