Civil war in Turkey , nightmare scenario.

How could civil war be any worse than what they have now? Turkey has been getting more terrorist attacks on soft civilian targets since since letting Syrian refugees into Turkey.

A coup could be a step in the right direction. The military has the ability to make it hard for terrorists to communicate and move freely.

I'm listening to BBC, and it just makes me laugh every time they say that the US does not support coups, while simultaneously trying to overthrow Assad...lol...

whos backing the coup? dosent the usa have 50-90 nuclear armed bombs in turky? b61s? umm who is guarding those......
en.wikipedia.org...
and any updates for whos backing the coup or any other major updates? like is this isis?

The US secures those weapons. Military coups in Turkey tend to be supported by the entire Turkish military. They will be fighting Polices units and para military forces that are loyal for government. Any military units that would be seen as loyal to the Government would be station in the seats of power in Ankara and Istanbul. That though is not likely the military tends to stand together.

From what I'm seeing the military is split , this is being carried out by faction within the military.
Given the role Turkey plays in the region could be much worse for both Turks and the wider region.

All the western media sources reporting this as form of 'group', as far I can tell it's the military, and apparently Erdogan is trying to 'call people to the streets'. Maybe that's why they're all empty haha

Stand corrected, there's people out there, but I still don't believe it's because of any call from the government.

Well Assad was not elected in what one would call a normal election. He was the only person on the ballot after his father died. And Coups are a take over of the Government by the military or elites within the government. When the people rise up it is called a revolution or popular revolt.

Thus why Syria with the military and elites vs the population is called a revolution and in Turkey where it is the military taking on the Government is a coup.

1913 founding of modern Turkey, with coups in 1960, 1971,1980,1993, and 1997. Some of those were less overt than others; but it seems like theyy might be a bit overdue.

Personally, I hope this one is like the others. Erdogan, was a tyrant in waiting I hope we get to see him Ceausescued.

Soldiers took control of TRT state television, which announced a countrywide curfew and martial law. An announcer read a statement on the orders of the military that accused the government of eroding the democratic and secular rule of law. The country would be run by a "peace council" that would ensure the safety of the population, the statement said.

Turkey army says it seizes power; Erdogan says: "We will overcome this"

'WE' ?

That the part where ISIS moves on to Turkey?

Western media is trying to play this some form of terrorist takeover, the Pentagon are saying 'it's not clear who's winning', difficult to say what exactly is happening here.

Granted the world stage don't seem to pretty to look at but i dont see WW-III happening just because Turkey decides to have another military coup. Which is not to say the situation is not worrying.
