I think the reason why this military coup is happening, is because people are tired of how things are. So, I seriously doubt they would just go to how things were.

Erdogans AKP nearly got the absolute majority during last winters election.
So he has some undeniable support from the populace. It's hard to say how they'll react to a coup by the predominantly secular military.
