Chicago police must think about how they approach the next local protest, which is expected later today.

Demonstrators say they plan to “shut down” the Taste of Chicago.

The larger of at least two protests planned for today will try to disrupt the Grant Park event. On Facebook, more than 600 people committed to demonstrating around 4 p.m.

If you’ve been to the Taste before, you know how large the crowds can get on a weekend afternoon and evening. Throw in protesters, hundreds of them, it will likely be chaotic.

I hope there is a bonfire.

Protesters: Let's ruin everyone's day. Husbands, wives, children...all of them...let's ruin their day. M-F work and looking forward to some fun on the weekend....let's stomp that right into the ground.

The story seems to be very careful to not mention who is doing the protesting, whether it is BLM or someone else. Maybe they haven't decided yet who they want to blame when the riot happens?

Yeah, this thread is obviously about white people wanting to kill blacks instead of blacks wanting to stop people who have done nothing to them from having a good time. Makes sense.

Why are they not going to the gang banger parts of Chicago and protesting black on black violence if they really cared about BLM?

Come on Ket, the chefs are not specifically being unjust. It is the ' business as usual ' that they are fighting against. They blame the economic system that ignores the plight of those who fall to the side in it's dog eat dog paradigm. I can understand that. Just like many conservatives who hate the government so much that rather than fix it, would rather see it all crumble and then start over, these people fight against the whole business community to disrupt that 'business as usual mentality. Again, I can understand while not agreeing with it. Can you understand the difference?

I think there are Americans very united. At least 30% They provide for their families. Pay into the system, not live off it. WORK directly through food banks, homeless shelters, mission trips. Americans trying to better their families and communities by being PRODUCTIVE!

This is when it changes from protest to criminal activity. The moment protest changes to denying others their Rights, it's no longer protest IMO.
