This religion destroyed my family. I have sisters who havent spoken to me for over 35 yrs. My own 90 yr old mom didnt speak to me for over 35 yrs. She now has dementia and none of the JW side will take care of her, so I take care of her. She talks to me now, if you can understand what she is talking about as she poops all over herself. Jesus said, "You will know mine, by their love." hummm 35 yrs of such love. Wow, what a sick idea of love.

A niece and a nephew won a class action settlement where millions were paid out by the JWs because their elder abused vast #s of children, and when caught he moved to a new congragation and started all over again, over and over for many many years. This is not an isolated case. You just dont hear anything about it, because, they pay their victims and buy their silence before it goes to trial.

This is why I was disfellowshipped: I visited the Watchtower Tract Society in New York, the farm, and the office place. I have cousins that live at all three places. I got the real behind the scenes tour, and when I came home, I wrote a letter to the "Brothers" and explained to them what I found there and asked to be taken off the books., I resigned being a JW. and it bought me 35 years of isolation, humiliation, Bullying, Ive been accused of so much BS. From being a Witch, to a liar, thief and drug addict. And I am none of those things. But how would they know? They havent spoken to me for 35 yrs???? I was treated very very badly by these people.

Everything they tell you about the NY Watchtower Society is a LIE!.

You sound like a totally awful person. I helped a grandfather, very closely, live through dementia and die on hospice. I would never say what you said, even in anonymity on the internet. Perhaps your family disowned you because you just aren't very nice?

Im just speaking the truth Ray, and I take very good care of my mom. It is what it is. We are never mean, and we listen to the rambling, I keep her clean, dry, calm and fed. When she is afraid of dying we listen to Near Death Experiences. And to get her happy I sing Oh my darlin, and home on the range. She is in day care for part of the day, and I have a huge support system, that helps me with all of it. She has regular nursing that comes to my home.

But, do I feel as close to her as a daughter that wasnt thrown away? I guess I will never be able to answer that. But, I can tell you, it doesnt feel so good, when she can name all her kids in pictures, except for me. And never one time in the 6 months that she has been here, has she gotten my name right.

So, I dont know Ray, how am I allowed to feel about all this???

It was heavily practiced in almost every major christian religion and has been relaxed in recent decades (last couple centuries). It appears Jehovah's Witnesses have not relaxed their views. That does not change that biblical doctrine says that anyone who is an unrepentant transgressor, even a family member, that person should not even be given a greeting.

So it seems to me that you are blaming the religion for what the bible says. Perhaps it is just the christian religion in general you have a problem with?

In your case it would appear you fall under the "apostasy" area since, as you claimed, you removed yourself from the church in a written letter. Obviously you held some very opposing views.

To be clear, just because I disagree with these viewpoints (those of organized religion) does not mean I can't look at them objectively. It does appear you have a very bitter attitude towards this religion, so why would those who are adherents of it, even family members, have anything to do with you? In their minds they are following the council of the apostles, to not have a meal or give even a greeting to such a person, even if that person is family.

I am guilty of standing up and saying, "there is something very wrong here" "If this is Gods organization, then He must have died? Why do you teach these doctrines, when the bible doesnt teach it? that is my sin? I cant imagine throwing one of my kids away, because they have opposing views. I cant find anywhere in the bible that says love people as long as they share your religious views.

I cant believe you would justify their actions. Why are you defending this horridly abusive religion? Just because their members have decided to live by the organizations rules, doesnt mean they treat their families right. How can you justify that?

And of course I am bitter toward a religion that has robbed, killed and destroyed my family. I am very sad for you if you feel justified or feel the need to defend this Evil Religion. They are so narrow minded that they didnt let me even share scriptures that explained why I can not agree with their doctrines.

And no I wont have a religious debate with you. Its pointless. And let me guess, your an adult child of a JW or grandson of a JW, and was raised in the kingdom hall and hasnt moved past the guilt, fear, and shame for leaving the "Truth". So you sit on the fence.

And just for the record, Im a very nice person. I earned all my lightening bolts. lol

You are missing the point widely. If the doctrine says something and it is in black and white, that means anyone who was pressuring her was not following the doctrine. So both you and that person are wrong in your views of how Jehovah's Witnesses react towards someone having an partner who shares a different spiritual view. It sounds like certain ones in her local church were pressuring her, and it sounds like they aren't aware of their own doctrine.

That would not be possible as they all teach and so they all had to learn and they practice the teaching every week with bible study and even doing little acts to practice. if someone were to pressure someone to divorce they would have supposed to have been reported to an elder as they would be doing wrong.

Lies are one thing, there is no way a child molester would be allowed to go on in their position and just move to another location.

Are you serious? In the below article, Alvin Heard was my niece and nephews abuser. They won a huge settlement along with a lot of other people. Of course the settlement kept it out of the courts, so you will never hear about it again.

I didn't accuse you of anything. You are the one who said you removed yourself with a letter. Based on the definition of Apostasy you threw yourself into the "apostate" definition within that church. They are doing what the bible told them to do. Surely you knew that would be the case?

See my edit above as well. But I am not choosing to believe what I want to believe. You provided the links, I read them, I repeated what the links said. Everyone you mentioned was excommunicated and sent to prison with the exception of one, who has been on the run from the police and will go to prison if caught.

If I may ask, how was it you came to care for your Mother? What were the other children not able to help?

Wow. I'd say its entirely appropriate to feel bitter and put-upon having to clean and take care of a person that shunned and reviled you for decades. Add that to the fact that the other family members, who are almost certainly still convinced of their spiritual superiority, have left the care of their mother in the hands of the godless heathen they all have been disparaging.

As I said, I have trouble with their story. That's why I asked how it was they came to be the primary care giver for the parent. Something seems off, and that poster seems to have a skewed view and appears to be twisting facts.

What facts are in dispute? That her JW siblings left her to take care of her ailing mother after cutting off all communication after her excommunication? It isn't difficult for me to believe that sanctimonious people can be hypocrites.

Nerve! How dare you?!! Jesus - she is the one caring for her mother, and she is the one living "the facts". You have not the slightest foggiest notion of the "facts" except for what she has told you. I believe her. No one would make up such a story to post on a thread like this.....

They were excommunicated because they were caught by the authorities, not because the JWs put a stop to it. My mom has 9 children. 2 have died, out of the 7 left, I am the only one who will take her. The rest are pushing really hard to have her put in a home. Im in the middle of a custody battle trying to keep her from a rest home. Oh yes its difficult at best, but she is still my mom and I will honor that, and make her as comfortable as possible until her time is up.

I heard through a nephew that works with a JW that knows my mom, she said she actually went to the elders and told them she was very concerned with the way mom was treated by my older sisters. She said they were mean, and pushy and grabbed mom up for no reason, But of course the elders sweep things under the rug and dont do anything and of course they werent prosecuted for elder abuse the way they should have been. Mom fell down (or was pushed down) a flight of stairs and really really hurt herself, that is why I ended up with her. No one else wants her.

By the way, I was pressured into getting Baptized at 14 yrs old. A mistake I made at 14 cost me my family forever. Justify and Defend that.

I call absolute hogwash. Jehovah's Witnesses would not do this. In the NY Times story:

"However, the spokesman for the Jehovah's Witnesses in Mexico said Tuesday that the allegation appeared to be false."

How dare I have the nerve to be able to read? That poster used links that say one thing, yet they post sources that contradict them. That's called twisting facts. How dare I read their vindictive and resentful comments about their mother in her failing health? How dare I realize they sued their family for custody of the mother?

You dislike organized religion just as i do, the difference between us is I am not finding reasons not to like it, so I don't find things that aren't there.

This poster obviously has a lot of animosity that has twisted their view. That much is obvious. It took me all of 10 minutes to determine nothing they claimed was true.

As a neutral party it seems to me they are simply out to disparage the religion.
