I don't care if Christians apologize, but it would be nice to see people treating people equally, regardless of your religion.

Apologies are just words.

Actions are another matter.

After watching Spotlight last night, i think all the pedophile and homosexual priests should apologize to their victims and the world!
And then they need to be punished! Not with transfering them to a south american town, where they can go on and on!

We Christians may apologize, but too many people will misread it as condoning sexual promiscuity.

Well, that's one way to rationalize it.

The issue is that sexual promiscuity outside of a real and lasting relationship is sin.

Only if you're a Christian or Muslim. For everyone else, it's just natural human behavior and experience.

Actions not only speak louder than words, but are far less able to be undertaken with barely disguised disgust and loathing. Truly loving your fellow human being without judgement is not difficult, unless you have to first throw off the wrong think that right wing politics inserts into religious dogma, against the wishes of Christ.

For the life of me I never thought I would say this about a Roman, but the pope has this one nailed in my estimation.

If the pope is saying apologize, that means that he is judging an action to be incorrect.

If you can judge an action to be incorrect and that doesn't count as judging. Then one can judge whom people sleep with.



I just think the catholic church and Hollywood is going down this path. If a 10 year old boy can "know" he's gay, that's ok. If a 10 year old boy can "know" he's a girl, that's ok. Why can't a 10 year old boy "know" that he wants a grown man to do sexual things with him.

If you disagree with that, well don't judge it out loud or even type a different opinion. remember this post is about not judging other people.

Exactly! What does that say about religion? Humanity has been following writings that have been manipulated, and censored to suit their own religious concepts! If it was truly the word of God, it would have been written clearly and precise without any chance of it being misinterpreted and contain censored writings that clearly don't convey acceptance and love. Instead we have multiple religious beliefs that have created nothing but divisiveness and conflict on this planet.

This pope is a weirdo, but yes, Christians who try to justify misplaced hatred of gays should really stop it because Christianity is supposed to be about not judging others because we are all sinners. Maybe the pope shouldn't have fired that gay priest, then. I wonder if he's going to apologize to him for smearing him in the media lol

The difference is that the US isn't still committing genocide towards its native population, the Brits stopped massacring the Australian natives, and the Germans long ago ended the holocaust.

But the LGBT community has been, and still is, oppressed by Churchianity and religious fundamentalism even of this generation.

But don't get me wrong, I think it's a silly notion too. Just for different reasons. I think it's silly to apologize for something you are still doing.
