Thats really cool, thanks for sharing, do you have pics from your collection I could look at? Have you sectioned any of them?

Were you hit by any of them? Theres only that one recorded incident… pretty special to be struck by space rock of any size. Exrtremely remote chance.

So far, one of a kind…
---snip-----

I would really like to put up a few composite pics of the collection. Just need a little time because this is my busy season. There are a few incidents of "hammer stones" striking people, and the price of those puppies, if you could even get a piece are way out of my price range. One that hit a dog in the head, and killed it, is Nahkla, and is a piece of MARS to boot. It should probably be known as "unobtanium". Give me a few days, and I will see what I can do.

Thank you charly, love looking at meteoritics. I found some in the garbage somebody threw away. My whole rock collection came from people throwing away others stuff.

When I was a lot younger I used to think every black rock I found was a meteorite. Especially if a magnet stuck to it.

Niice, but I would be more concerned if it was giving off any kind of radiation. You know what they say, some things aren't necessarily lucky but how one may respond in its presence.

Meteorites are cold when they land, not hot.

It's an Alien probe, inside there is a beacon that will lead them RIGHT TO YOU . . . . . j/k. That's pretty sweet! Lucky you. Definitely meteorite

No idea what it is, but it's pretty!

Identifying Rocks and Minerals

That might be a start.

Blue, Purple and Violet Minerals

One there is similar, but not glossy like your sample. Whatever it is, doesn't look common. We've been collecting samples, for school purposes, and never seen one like that! Wish we had! It's very nice. Odd to have it fall that way, too. Some odd meteorite, maybe? Any place local for you that you could check?

Definitely get those tests done! I request you immediately come back and put our heads to rest on this endless topic. Your story has our minds running different directions! We're all excited to know what the results turn up to be!

If it's a meteorite, it's just pure lucky to have it drop in front of your face. Personally I wouldn't sell it. I'd keep it for the rare story that comes with it! I'm not sure I'd be one to have it polished up or wear it though. I think in it's most "raw" form is how I would keep it, put it up on a shelf or in a small display case of it's own.

---And for what it's worth---
I'm sure there's still some people who would gladly purchase it off of you for a reasonable price if it's not a meteorite and you decide you don't want to keep it. I still find it gorgeous and I'm sure, as other's have stated, there are some who'd enjoy to have it as jewelry.

But whatever it may be, I wish you luck in the journey of research and testing.

Did this occur during the day? My late Dad and I saw quite a few almost identical fall from the sky in 1982. We called the observatory and found out a lot of people had called in the same thing. We were told there were Meteor showers going on that would continue for approximately 2 days so we should observe at night. One man's car was hit with a fairly large one. The all seemed egg shaped but did not look like Lapis Lazuli as yours seems to, I guess it depends how it was edited but back then my photos were from a mini spy cam out of comic book orders, which took a 110 coloured film. The egg shaped rocks we got looked silvery and charred. Pretty cool though, what you have, I'd say. Nice! & ThankQ for sharing. I just love this kind of thing.

I would never sell it. It is an awesome piece with an equally awesome back story. Something for conversation or to show future children/grandchildren
