While I was about to post this article on ATS my internet decided to quit just as I pushed the post button so I have to now post from my mobile device so it might be a tad shorter.

Today YouTube decided to post their own video on their stance on the whole LGBT community and what has risen from it seems either like a huge mistake or a godsend to the gay community. There is now a rainbow heart in the corner of the screen that takes you to the video.

It was posted 16 hours ago and there has been already 4.1m views. The thing that amazes me is the amount of dislikes and comments that have come in that amount of time. It is a literal sh** show right now and YouTube is engaging in damage control by deleting comments by the masses.

This is 2016, you would think that the human race would be past these petty things by now. This is the year of the hashtag.

Here is the link.

I somehow feel like Youtubes plan is going to backfire into their faces when this goes viral.

i don't understand your position though...what is petty? deleting comments or the dislike count?
personally i don't mind this new hashtag movement we are going through because it's pointless, it's not like it really means anything, the vast majority of people just use them to get the approval of a certain group and nothing else, it's a way of saying "i'm on the right side of things" without actually doing anything of use.

As for the video itself, i'll be frank, it looked stupid, this thing about asking people to accept all of these "genders" that people are pulling out of their rear end is mental.
We are being forced to promote delusional thinking.

And i guess this is some kind of response to the orlando shooting?
A shooting that has been proven to have less to do with gay hatred and more with a closeted homosexual forced to deny his identity because of his father's religiously informed beliefs?
with that in mind i'm surprised the video has so many likes.

This seems to be the general feeling, from the posts I read-

When I'll say that I'm proud to be white - I'm a racist,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be hetero - I'm homophobe,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be Christian - I'm disrespectful fanatic,
When I'll say that I'm proud of my country - I'm xenophobe,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be gay - I'm hero... Why being normal is stigmatized?

be proud of something you have done and achieved and not of a feature which has been given to you by nature or society - there is nothing to be proud about that. The same way most gay people are not proud being gay (as it hasn't been an achievement or a choice), they just want to be themselves.

(edited) I hate how this PC culture/agenda is being pushed down our throats, can't even view videos in peace these days without some video being plastered all over YouTube talking about fairy tale genders.

I highly doubt it, these people are minorities (which means there isn't very much of them) and the rest of the world is the MAJORITY so no it won't back fire except for whoever uploaded it.

People hate censorship now more than ever. I don't know how many contributors to Facebook no longer contribute because of censorship. There's only one person 'left' in my office who regularly has the site open on his computer.

It's rare for me to read YouTube comments. I do ... but, it's rare. Maybe it won't matter so much.

Petty arguing about people disagreeing with their own beliefs. Both sides bicker and are trying to shove their agenda down each others throats.

And then I'm here with a neutral standpoint with popcorn and some squirt.

Who cares?

I'm not going to ever call someone Xer, but gays deserve to be happy and treated well. Same with transgender people.

Right wing straight white gun owner for gays here. Are they Americans? Yeah? STFU. You like your rights? Then you best stick up for theirs.

I don't get the weird stuff either, but go for it if you don't hurt anyone.

Agreed, I see a lot of folks commenting about a disproportionate slant from the media towards promoting the LGBT cause/community/lifestyle whilst ostracizing the wider community and using Orlando to further a perceived LGBT agenda.

Sad really, my first reaction after watching the video was to acknowledge that at the end of the day we all just want peace and happiness, such simple things seem impossible to achieve.

Are people not allowed to disagree? People are rejecting what is clearly unreasonable and you guys call it "hate". That's why you're seeing a backlash.

YouTube is a virtual celebrity in it's own right.

And I hate when celebrities take a stand on something because they think they are important. Especially actors.

Yep, I concur with the above.
People ought to take a page out of Lenny Kravitz' book...and let love rule.

Love is gentle as a rose
And love can conquer any war
It's time to take a stand
Brothers and sisters join hands

Love transcends all space and time
And love can make a little child smile
Can't you see this won't go wrong
But we got to be strong
We can't do it alone

We got to let love rule
Let love rule

When something is constantly thrown in my face as something I SHOULD acknowledge and praise people for, well you will get the exact OPPOSITE reaction from me.

Good, GOOD FOR THE LGBT crowd. Continue to put yourself in the spotlight.

Maybe one day people will realize that putting yourself out there for everyone in the world to criticize and judge makes you much more susceptible to face backlash by the very thing you are promoting.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but think of it this way, when a bunch of white males get together and celebrate being a white male with beliefs they are called nazis.

You are LGBT? Cool. I don't need to know that. Just like you don't need to know about my life.
