Why does this surprise you? It's the Internet, namely the YouTube comments section where the trolls and bigots thrive.

Who cares ?

That's all I could think while watching, I don't really care if you're straight, gay, bi, trans or even if you think you're a park bench, why make such an issue out of it by preaching from any platform you can find to proclaim a choice you've made in life is somehow an achievement we should all be proud of ?

It really should not be an issue, yet people on both sides make it an issue and to be honest as a neutral person it's all so stupid and childish (my choice is better than yours ner ner ner)

It's a nice video just a way for people to heal and reach out after the tragedy of Orlando. Is YouTube capitalizing on the flavor of the week? Maybe, isn't that part of Capitalism? They could have capitalized on the latest wave of hatred against Muslims, they would probably make more money (amirite LiveLeak?) off that. They went with love instead, kudos to them.

Hashtags aren't a movement they are a way to get visibility on Twitter, the more relevant hashtags you use in your post the more visible your tweet is. It has lightly made its way into internet vernacular but that doesn't make a movement or to be more accurate a campaign.

The likes/dislikes counter... it's silly to use that as a judgement of how well received something is. Look at the views compared to the likes/dislikes total. Currently it's at 5.2M views and the total of likes/dislikes is 272K, we have no way of knowing what 5 million other people think of the video.

Being proud to be gay or trans doesn't mean you can't be proud to be anything else including white, straight, Christian and/or male. However if proud to be white (for example, calm down) is followed with something hateful against non-whites... people in general might have a problem with your statement.

Censorship. Haters (of anything) kill me with this. When you make an account on a social media platform you have to agree to their terms and conditions, most businesses don't want ugly all over their face... grow up and deal with it or take your ball and go home.

Someday it will be silly to say that oneself is proud to be gay or trans just as it's silly to say you're proud of being anything you are born as... it's just kind of necessary during times of intolerance because the idiotic among us think anything outside of their beliefs is wrong or shameful. It's a survival tactic really, a way to call people together to stand against hate.

Well, you can't keep telling people how to think without a backlash.

Stop the social engineering.

ETA: The comments with the video are hilarious.

Perhaps because they feel insecure about their choice and need re-affirmation from others to convince them that they are doing the right thing.

Just an educated guess

Who cares?

I'm not going to ever call someone Xer, but gays deserve to be happy and treated well. Same with transgender people.

Right wing straight white gun owner for gays here. Are they Americans? Yeah? STFU. You like your rights? Then you best stick up for theirs.

I don't get the weird stuff either, but go for it if you don't hurt anyone.

This is, in my view, the correct standpoint. However, I do understand the frustration of many others, as 1) they find it tiresome to see it everywhere they go, as if there is some kind of lgbt holocaust we all need to be aware of that needs tbe weight of the world to put an end to. People in this world, and in this nation even, are homeless and starving to death and without clean water or the slightest proper medical care.

And there are still other causes more deserving, in my humble opinion, of such a titanic amount of attention. It almost seems a little insulting towards those other people. Where is youtubes video about that? Where is youtubes video about the fact that the masses are being robbed blind by central banks, fractional banking, fiat money, corporate interests, etc., and everyone on the planet should be enjoying 100x better quality of life?

And 2) this "pride" thing, its confusing to many people. There can be no such thing as white pride, or straight pride, but then we have gay pride, or brown pride, or native pride, and what I think it is, is that pride, is the opposite of shame, in a way, but maybe it would make more sense to a lot of people if they would just say "im not ashamed to be ____", instead of taking it to the extreme polar opposite.

Because I think all this pride everywhere leaves a lot of people feeling subconsciously left out or ostracised, and that is not the American way, that is what Everyone should be against. But I don't know if all these people realize they are making people feel this way. The wording of a message should be well thought out. It seems like this: "LGBT/Gay/Whatever Pride! ...and if you are not LGBT or whatever, then you are not welcome to share in this good feeling we are all having without you, so butt out, bub! Get lost."

If there were a slogan we could all take part in, it might do a lot more for their cause, and do a lot more to put an end to this divisive conflict we are seeing everywhere. Maybe "tolerant pride" or something, because people are not born tolerant of others so it can actually be seen as an acheivement to be proud of and all Americans who are tolerant and accepting of what freedom means for others, even if they are not like us, can be a part of. Rather than something that, in its very wording ws a statement, promotes divisiveness from the very start.

It's like, hey guys/gals, I wanna be friends and play too... But how would I look wearing a gay pride shirt? Or a black pride bumper sticker? Or a native pride tattoo? We could use a banner we could all unite beneath, which at one time, I think, used to be the American flag, which was supposed to stand for all these things people are fighting for. But at some point, understandably for some, its legacy has been stained... unfortunately.

I like how you focus on pride. It really is the defining factor in this whole discussion.

One person's pride is another person's bigotry.

But, BUT BUT....
that only goes one way.

if you don't see or agree with it, YOU are the bigot and YOU are the racist. Your personal feelings and thoughts equal ZERO if you aren't WITH the agenda.

It is so goddamn typical lately that it is becoming the norm.

When something is constantly thrown in my face as something I SHOULD acknowledge and praise people for, well you will get the exact OPPOSITE reaction from me.

Good, GOOD FOR THE LGBT crowd. Continue to put yourself in the spotlight.

Maybe one day people will realize that putting yourself out there for everyone in the world to criticize and judge makes you much more susceptible to face backlash by the very thing you are promoting.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but think of it this way, when a bunch of white males get together and celebrate being a white male with beliefs they are called nazis.

You are LGBT? Cool. I don't need to know that. Just like you don't need to know about my life.

Good point. We don't need to know everyone's sexual/gender preference. Maybe they are so swept up in this movement, they don't realize how annoying it is to the very people they are apparently trying to gain acceptance among. Which brings me back to my earlier point... Are they really trying to gain acceptance among straight people, or are they trying to build a wall between us by saying "you are not included in the very special thing that i am a part of, and i will proclaim so every chance i get with various symbols, slogans and hashtags"? It gets very confusing. Do they want us all to be friends and be all in the same group: humans who believe freedom is precious? Or do they hate us and want nothing to do with us? Or what?

This seems to be the general feeling, from the posts I read-

PrivateSkitles21 minutes ago
When I'll say that I'm proud to be white - I'm a racist,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be hetero - I'm homophobe,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be Christian - I'm disrespectful fanatic,
When I'll say that I'm proud of my country - I'm xenophobe,
When I'll say that I'm proud to be gay - I'm hero... Why being normal is stigmatized?

N Gro49 seconds ago
be proud of something you have done and achieved and not of a feature which has been given to you by nature or society - there is nothing to be proud about that. The same way most gay people are not proud being gay (as it hasn't been an achievement or a choice), they just want to be themselves.

(edited) I hate how this PC culture/agenda is being pushed down our throats, can't even view videos in peace these days without some video being plastered all over YouTube talking about fairy tale genders.

If they are pushing the "be proud of who I am" and "be proud of what I think I am", that is going to let a lot of monsters out of the closet.

This is an over flow from "there are no losers" and "everyone is a winner", propaganda that these people grew up with.

It piggy-backs on "Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law", "The Secret", and Oprah's "Belief".

It is all part of the programming. Again people, time is getting short. You had better start asking yourselves, the right questions.

EXACTLY. You freaking nailed it! You hit the head of EVERY "group" there is.

I cannot understand because -
I'm not black
I'm not gay
I'm not a woman
I'm not an immigrant
I'm not ....

So many things I'm not. And every single group advocating it is making me something new. An outcast to them.

It is odd that this isn't clear since so many grew up with this lesson.

This is 2016, you would think that the human race would be past these petty things by now. This is the year of the hashtag.

OH SNAP! IT'S THE CURRENT YEAR!

I always hate it when people do that... wtf does the year have to do with anything? We don't NEED to do ANYTHING, simply because it's the current year.

There's nothing petty about wholeheartedly disagreeing with complete insanity.

Oh, you mean like the "mein coke" fiasco? Or green mountain coffee's hashtag campaign from years ago? Or the mountain dew's campaign to name their new product, in which the top ten was littered with things like "hitler did nothing wrong", "gushing granny", "fapple", and "diabeetus"?

I love it when stupid campaigns go horribly off the rails...

Problem is that you're failing to see the bigger picture..

It's FAR more than petty arguing about people disagreeing with their own beliefs. The entirety of the "social justice" movement is cancer, and it is destroying western/first world society, as we know it.

All it takes is a loud minority, to shame governments into giving them their way....and it is the rest of us who hafta pay the price.

No, i think the annoyance comes from this constant pushing of agendas..

So what if you have what could be considered odd sexual tastes, or proclivities.. as long as you're not diddling children, i couldn't care less... go forth, and be happy...just don't expect me to praise you for your life choices, or participate in them.

It's aggravating that it's always being said "you need to accept us" ....there are places in the world where gay people are thrown from roofs, and then stoned, if the impact didn't kill them. There are places where being gay is illegal...there are places where there is no such thing as sex-change operations, and hormone therapy, and if you think you're the wrong gender, you best hide it, because, yep, you guessed it; you'll be killed.

I'm pretty sure that here, in the western world, we're not doing any of that, so it's pretty safe to say that they're accepted.

Would you have known about this video if not for people complaining about it or did someone force you to click the rainbow heart? None of my lesbian friends on facebook seem to even know about it, if they do they weren't impressed enough to share it. It's not trending on Twitter or Facebook. Oh it's trending on YouTube... weird that it doesn't automatically play, you'd think the agenda pushers would get on that.

Let's get our outrage together guys, gay people did another thing!
