You miss the point.

The poster I was responding to implied that gays don't deserve respect because they all walk around with no clothes on and do nasty things in public. I was pointing out that there as many different types of gay people as there are straight people.

And yeah, come to think of it, someone who has grown to an old age and been able to maintain a solid relationship for over 50 years DOES deserve a bit of respect for that, IMHO. I give the same respect to my grandparents who were together for over 60 years before they died.

I swear I am gona setup a straight pride parade just to aggravate some lefty loon!

It's called Mardi Gras, where young women eagerly bare their breasts so horny men will throw cheap plastic beads at them and everyone gets stinking falling drown drunk. Heterosexuals. Pffft. Bunch of sleaze balls, all of 'em.

Ah!

Have you had another stroke recently? I am dreadfully sorry to hear that! I do hope that you are recovering well, and that your abilities on the old keyboard do not permanently evade you! Skippy keyboards are the bane of any typist of course, so I hope that situation improves also. We have one of those at work, slip slides all over the place, rides up on the monitor base, wobbles as a result. Tedious bit of plastic tosh it is.

I would have stuck it to the desk, but I am not the only user and all the users have slightly different preferences as to how to position mouse and keyboard, otherwise I would have gotten the double sided tape out, and really locked it down!

Gay pride parades are very large and diverse (especially ones in the larger cities), and you will see all kinds of people. Like these:

For every pic you show me of a scantily clad person at a parade doing something scandalous, I can show you a pic of normal people with all their clothes on.

a reply to: kaylaluv I like your pictures of a gay pride parade because they show the wholesome side of the LGBTQ community that the other pornographic like photos try to make you forget and seem to have a shock and awe effect overshadowing the folks like the two elderly guys married for fifty years and feeling unashamed of their love.
I'm a bit surprised the barely clothed photo's from other poster is allowed up here, not everyone is from a country where nudity is a regular thing and not everyone wants to feel like they opened a naughty magazine when going through the posts here on ATS.

These guys were also at a gay pride parade. They are also what it means to be gay. Do they not deserve your respect?

Don't paint a whole group with such a wide brush, will ya?

Why not get some control over the picture then? The large picture lacks any show of respect for themselves or others. it becomes not an issue of your private preferences but wanting to openly behave in a disrespectful way in public.

There's no other way to read that except a very passive aggressive way of saying I am anti-LGBT.
You might as well have said "Gee, I understand, it must be hard to be a gay hating jerk...."

If that's what you read, that's really your problem because I said no such thing, nor did I mean ANYTHING like what you suggest I meant. You can read into my post all day long, but frankly, it's a waste of time discussing this with you, because you have already decided my position, even though I haven't even implied that you're a "gay hating jerk". Kind of like your cousin decided your position (that you are part of the problem unless you fight).

I am being hassled because I am not getting in fights out there, I am instead living in peaceful acceptation of the LGBT folk around me. That is not enough for the extremists who want violent fights.

Hassled??? You freely read something on Facebook and it "hassled" you? LOL! Find a safe space.

I have NEVER been to a gay function (except for a few gay bars in my youth), nor do I do ANY kind of "fighting" (except on here) for LGBT people. No one has EVER said anything to me about that, nor suggested that I'm part of the problem. But, if they did, it would slide right off my back!!! Because that's their opinion and they are welcome to it. If they did, I wouldn't consider it to be "forcing" or "pressuring" anything on me, especially if I READ it!

If you don't want to hear it, stay away from Facebook, for Christ's sake! If someone says something you don't like, EVEN ABOUT YOU, blow it off! Or find a safe space. I don't know what to tell you.

You can choose to go the New Orleans and subject yourself and/or your kids to Marde Gras. The problem is in cities that have become strongholds for gay + the street is becoming Mardi Gras with no choice your family is subjected to what I feel is immoral disgusting behavior. Thus I am losing my choice.

I think to win any reform people need to win respect.

So I'm aware that I am going to receive A LOT of hate for this thread but i feel that there are others that will agree with me on this subject.

We are basically forced to be 'ok' with the idea of gay marriage, transgender people and anyone who we don't consider 'normal'.

Yeah, the thread over here

The End of Gender

explains what its all about. See, especially the link to video in the last post.

There was a gay pride event in a nearby town to me a few years back. It's an annual thing, but it got sold to me as a day out involving lots of drinking and live music, and so of I went with a lady friend of mine.

Everyone there had a respectable amount of clothes on, aside from the drag queen they had on stage, who got their kink on pretty spectacularly, but that was during the late, late evening, in a marquee. There were some people in some of the very fanciest of fancy dress of course, dress being the operative word.

The issue you have is with exhibitionists. I can get behind that. No one likes a flasher.

Let me say straight up - I DON'T GIVE A # WHAT YOUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR 'GENDER' IS!!!! I don't care if you're heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, asexual or whatever..

What really grinds my gears is that we are hounded if we do not support them..

Does anyone else agree that its complete and utter bull# that we are put down if we don't support all of the above? Am i the only one that feels pressured into supporting these people?

Opinions?

I don't...and haven't for decades allowed anyone else to tell me what is acceptable or unacceptable. I have found that for me and in general, I am a quite moral and fair person and I will always trust my instinct and research to determine who is, and who is not deserving of my "acceptance".

I guess it is something that comes with age.

Yep, just somethings nobody wants to see in public. They would be the ones giving the others a bad rep. Maybe people would be less weirded by them in general.

a reply to: SeaWorthy I see in your pictures things I might see at a Burning Man show of which I don't attend because I don't like feeling like I opened up a porno magazine... I'm too old to have that sort of taboo curiosity anymore and I'm just not comfortable with it or the other pictures because I don't like feeling like I walked into a seedy sex toy shop either...
breasts are breasts whether they are made by silicone and put on a transgender or a born female woman.
I understand the point you are trying to make, but I would have understood it just the same without the photo's and would have preferred reading a description instead.
Anyhow, maybe I needed a dose of the reality I don't experience in my day to day life, but then again maybe I didn't.

Exactly! There are straight exhibitionists, too. Straight people go to nude beaches, nudist colonies, and compete in wet t-shirt contests. Straight people do porn. Straight people go to strip clubs. Straight people flash... If someone doesn't want to see a naked body, because it's so disgusting, a pride parade or Mardi Gras or Rio De Janeiro might not be your best choice of entertainment.

Well now, the impetus is on the observer to understand that individuals are their own affair, and that groups cannot, and must never be judged on the actions of individuals within that group, unless the behaviour can be attributed FAIRLY to the entire group.

To establish a fair critique of the entire group, it is necessary to spend inordinate amounts of time, energy, and emotional connection to the group, in order to allow members of the group to be absolutely comfortable around one, to ensure that their behaviour is not restrained around you as a result of your not being part of that group. Once that groundwork is laid, you can examine the every day goings on and behaviours of the group at your leisure, but proximity is necessary.

I have spent a fair bit of time around homosexuals and lesbians, and have some close transgendered friends. In my experience of being out partying with both straight, and LGBT persons, I can tell you that it is nothing exclusive to the gay community, or indeed even more prevalent in the LGBT community, to get ones flesh out. I have been at far more parties where a bunch of straight folks thought stripping down to their essentials was a good idea, although I am rather a party pooper in that regard. It's not my bag to behave like that, and my Velcro covered self is a sight that will put a room full of people off their Sex On the Beach (cocktails old chap, cocktails) faster than a dose of laxative in the punch.

Yeah this is our main streets. I didn't show the bad stuff. I want people to understand how they lost me in their goal of acceptance.

Another thing is children. I read a story in the news yesterday of a guy who gave his semen to over 22 Lesbians with successful births of children from 22. They did this by meeting in public stores where he went to the men's room did his thing in a cup and the women went to the women's room and inserted the semen.

Now after all of these beautiful babies were born the majority chose it was like 80% to sue this guy for child support. So where was the "wives" what the heck is this about? The kids have no Dad the whole thing is sick IMO.

There are plenty of GLT whatever people who hate straight people openly, they do teach their children that hate I have seen it. How confusing is that for a kid. Lesbians seem to want no part of men but where do kids come from

I could go one there is so much to the children part of the equation.
